Thanks for all your responses. I'm really interested in losing my excess weight, but I was thinking about the physiology of the ERCPs, etc, and wondered if maybe losing the weight would improve the PSC and bile duct inflammation so that I wouldn't have to worry about the ERCPs and stenting, etc., as much. I want to be able to get and do things (like the Minn. State Fair) without having so many other problems like joint pain, shortness of breath, etc. I appreciate everyone's perspective. I will be discussing all this with my GI next week as well.

I for one was not thinking of a gastric bypass when I replied earlier

to your post, so my answer probably sounded off the wall. I was

thinking of roux-en-y as illustrated at

http://hopkins-gi.nts.jhu.edu/pages/latin/templates/ in the Therapy

sections of cholangiocarcinoma and primary sclerosing cholangitis.
