Guest guest
Carol, One other thing I forgot. Sometimes with nerve issues, it can burn too and I do get a burn on occasion when I get those sharp pains so sometimes what I do when that happens is to do cool sitz baths to put out the fire. This will often happen when a flare comes up out of nowhere like it did recently and had to start using my baby wipes again to help with some of that fire. As soon as I went back to my baby wipes I did much better. As one of the other girls mentioned (Lindsey I think-Lindsey if it was you thanks for this info) when we have pain our nerves are always involved. The problem occurs when there is so much pain (chronic pain) that the nerves start to misfire instead of trying to calm down and that's why some use medications like the Elavil and Pamelor (better for this than Cymbalta because of the way they are designed). Because those medications help slow down and even stop the misfiring that the nerves are creating. I have also been advised to take the medicines like Elavil and Pamelor and even Neurontin and now Lyrica (Neurontin also used to be discussed a lot on this list) but I can't take them. I took Neurontin for a different nerve related problem that I had in the late 1990s. It did nothing for that problem as long as I took it by itself. Another way too that I knew my problem was nerve related was because when I started to get some of the pain I have been dealing with the past 9 months not only would the pain radiate down my left leg it would go all the way down to my foot and out. And the area where my pain came from since this started 9 months ago came from the area that my Pain Management doctor had been treating, the nerves that are causing the problem for me: genitofemoral and ilioinguinal (these nerve branches start at L1 and L2, this is part of the lower back). And even stranger is that when I went to have surgery last year to check the status of my endometriosis and the nurse was going to numben the area of my arm before inserting the IV in to my vein with the Lidocaine I felt some of the medication going straight to my vulva. I have yet to tell my doctor this but will need to if I should have to have surgery again depending on what I find out about the results of the test I have to have done in a few weeks after talking to my gynecologist today about this bleeding issue I've had. If I should need to have surgery again I will have to remind my doctor about putting an order on the chart for them to put lidocaine on my vulvar area so I won't be in a lot of trouble on coming out of the anesthetic. I paid big time last year because I forgot to have her put it on the orders last year. But because this is a nerve issue for me and because of what I've been thru in the past 9 months I went to neurology to have them help me out. I'm going to ask next (after getting my gyn's opinion and then asking the neurologist) about getting a nerve conduction study which is kind of what I was hoping to get any way. So we'll see in the next few weeks. Kristy ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Building a website is a piece of cake. Yahoo!
