Guest guest
Chelle, Even if you did have a slight " entrapment " wouldn't mean that you'd need surgery- PT could very well get rid of the entrapment because it could be caused by tight muscles. He works closely with Prendergast in San Francisco about this stuff so he is knowledgeable about PT and knows how it can get rid of entrapment because it would just mean relaxing those muscles that are constricting the nerve. Also, Dr. Conway said that it's very well even people without pelvic pain or nerve pain could have some very slight form of entrapment, just that for whatever reason on certain people it begins to cause pain and that nerve blocks could also very well get rid of that pain once the nerve calms back down. I know how you feel- I felt the same way when I went up there. Also, the nurse that did my emg test freaked me out when she told me my levels (4 something and 5 something) and told me that I had entrapment- the first thing I thought of is " oh my god i'm going to need surgery and i'll never get better " , but then I met with Dr. Conway and he told me that I was NOT a surgery candidate based on my pelvic/rectal exam and symptoms and that the nerve blocks may get rid of it. He also did not think I had an entrapment, just that my nerves were acting up from friction against my ischial spine bone and all the types of activities I used to do (gymnastics, snowboarding, running, biking, squatting) due to the make-up of my bone structure. You could see this very easily from the x-ray guided nerve block- where he injected it, when it was closest to the nerve, was basically right on the tip of that ischial spine bone, which on me was very pointy and he said on lots of people that he sees that bone is not as pointy and rubbing right against the nerve. Just wanted to throw that out there and hopefully calm your fears a little bit. --- Chelle wrote: > Kristy, after having the vulvar burning from the CT > scan, it has made me wonder about the nerves in my > vulvar region.
