All my life I have had what they call an " iron stomach " - I could eat everything

and nothing would bother me.

Several months before my vulvodynia hit me, I had a severe digestive episode

when I had unrelenting diarrhea and vomiting for six days. Such a thing had

never before or afterwards happened to me. I became very weak and when I

recovered my appetite went crazy. I could not stop eating. I gained about 20

pounds and was constantly on a diet to prevent any more weight gain. I started

taking diet pills which contained ephreda. Then I started having incontinence,

so I stopped taking the pills. I went on a low (almost no) fat diet because I

didn't want to gain weight. Then my vulvodynia set in and the incontinence went

away. I told my doctor and he put me on Phentermine and my appetite went back

to normal in a few weeks. I can now eat anything except a few things which

cause my vulvodynia to flare. (cinnamon, celery, cucumber, black pepper,

oatmeal, onions, citric acid, corn, and bran from all grains.

If I had crohns I guess I was cured but I doubt it was crohns.

A few things will give me diarrhea but only for a couple of hours, (like fig

newtons or prunes).

Ora, sounds to me like their truly is a connection for you. I'm just the opposite of you, LOL, I used to have terrible trouble with my belly, not true IBS, but I must have been borderline for years...seems like so many things caused me to end up with diarrhea (*ugh*)....I'm much better now. But when my intestines do act up it usually bothers my vulvar pain, too. I seriously wonder if a lot of us have wiped out a lot of the good bacteria in our intestinal tract. I mean, we might as well live in a bubble for the way we try to "sanitize" everything these days. Don't get me wrong, my mama taught me what her mama taught her..."Cleanliness is next to Godliness".... ;) But I think we've gone too far. I told my hubby that it really would make sense for docs to give a prescription or recommendation for a good Probiotic when prescribing antibiotics. Our Pediatrician always told me to use

acidophilous when my kids where on antibiotics. Wish I would have known that info years ago for myself. Oh well...live and learn, huh? Hugs, Chelle
