Guest guest
: You are doing great with your brother. Your brother can call and get the total lab report. I would highly recommend having them email or picking it up and keeping a log. Then when you are asked some of the questions from our gurus you will have that info infront of you. What is the dr. expecting to accomplish with the ERCP? Some one here will be able to email you with all the questions to ask. Sorry I am not that good at retrieving info from our site. Also, why don't you get him involved in the virtual walk to raise money and make him feel he is making a difference. It will get him focused on that. EEEEEk it out one more week if you can, girlfriend. Great Job being the caregiver. dee
Guest guest
, Just my 2 cents – if I remember right, both you and love this doc and trust him. A Bilirubin of 25 is very high and with a fever to boot, I’d be worried too. Call the doc and ask him if it’s possible for to wait a week (for insurance.) Ask him if he’ll put on Cipro for the time being. Then go ahead and make the appointment for the ERCP right after his Medicare kicks in. It’s possible that, even though they can’t put a stent in, they might be able to open a duct or two. At the very least, they’ll be able to see what is going on (we already know what’s going on, just not the extent) and they’ll be able to send the results to the transplant hospital when he goes for his evaluation in a few weeks. This doctor knows ’s insurance situation, remind him of it, I’ll bet he’ll say he can wait. I’d go ahead and ask for a copy of all the results – you need to know what else is happening. Guest guest
,I think Barb gave you some good advice. I will send good thoughts and a prayer that you can keep him stable for a week with good hydration, nutrition and if he is up to it, some light exercise like walking. Hang in there, Lee. Guest guest
Thanks--I did remind them of the insurance situation. They are checking with the charity program that has been helping with the medical expenses to see if there is anyway they would cover it. is on antibiotics as of last night, 875mg of penicillian twice a day. So if they don't it won't happen until next Friday.Talked to a financial coordinator, they won't schedule or talk to him until they can verify his benefits (next week) then we should be scheduled to get in within the first two weeks of feb. She said she will be watching for his charts, and gave me a scheduler name and number. We have a dr appt in the morning (this was scheduled before this chaos) so I will get a copy of the blood work then-as I usually do....I have a nice 3 ring binder going. As always thanks for the replys!!!!Brother, 30, UC & PSC
