Guest guest
I thought that it would be helpful to have at least one DAN doctor's opinion among all of the information that the families communicate. So, specifically for HBOT, I have a 7 part series (Parts I and II are already posted). I'm sure that many of you know this information, but for any newbies to the block, maybe this series will help. http:// http://www.theautismdoctor.com/my-views-about-hyperbaric-oxygen-therapy-part-i/ Sincerely, D. Guest guest
Steve, My experience has only been with hard chambers and I have seen amazing improvement with many disorders over the years that I was closely involved with different HBOT centers. However, I have no experience with soft chambers; only what I hear from other parents, but I feel that it's impossible to have the same results no matter how diligent and for whatever period of time because there's not 100% oxygen nor is there as high of pressure. HBOT is one form of many therapies that can be helpful for some children. Parents always need to assess their child's needs and what they can afford. Sometimes there are other avenues to achieve the same results with much less financial strain. HBOT is very expensive and not easy to get covered by insurance. I believe parents need to be constantly determining what direction they need to go with their child because there is no one therapy that works for every kid...they are all different. This is why biomedical is so important to determine what abnormalities are present in your child that need to be addressed. If you work through the biomedical this will only help improve the educational approach...whether it's ABA or VB. When I suggest working through the biomedical I am not suggesting the DAN approach as the only approach. There are many other less expensive avenues for this as well. Hello .I always find touring someplace I have never been before intesting. I know the difference between hard and soft chambers and that is why I specified which I have direct experience with.I am not of the opinion that there is any intervention will have a positive impact for all children with autism. The closest thing that does in my opinion is ABA and VB.I stand by this statement of opinion:Not saying HBOT isn't effective, just saying it may not be effective for all kids with autism. Guest guest
We did 80 dives over a 40 day period with Dr Nuebrander (NJ) and did not see vast improvement and very expensive. It was a soft chamber. His website is a great DAN resoource-tons of information. Also, Kirkman labs' catalog-another great resource on supplement information. Any products labeled DRN were designed by Dr Neubrander. Steve, great advise.
