Years ago when I was a teen, I grew up in a small over abundant drug addicts,

too many bar rooms and liquer stores for such a small town, no wonder people got

addicted. Anyway it is a beautiful area some of you may know it that live on

the East Coast, some of you that watched the Perfect Storm movie this is the

town Gloucester Ma.,which off the subject that movie did not show the real now

well known CROWS NEST was a prop which don't know why, I knew all those that

went down in that boat well. But back in my day, there were so many addicted to

heroin, dilaudid, paragoric!, drank it by the bottles, and even some desperate

drank Kaopeptate sp, as it use to hold a very itsy bitsy opiate in it I guess!

I was horrified to see people I went to school with get addicted to these, and

when they couldn't get the harder drugs they went to Dr. and got the cough

syrups and drank it by the bottles. There are many, Tussionex, Robitussion AC,

Hicadan, etc. I know them not that I was

one of these seeking a high honest lol, no it is sad, that they would down

these bottles, but this is why they also became harder and harder to get a RX

when needed. I can remember I lived in ME. where I am now another time back

then and up here which as of yesterday when I was picking up my RX's may still

be happening, you can just sign your name and get what other states give as

these RX cough syrups. I thought they had stopped it. I also have seen elder

patient's that I cared for in a facility who at a earlier period in there life

had been an alcoholic, drink her whole bottle of perfume!!!! We found out when

she had it reaping out of her breathe so had to start hiding these in other

rooms. I also know a desperate alcoholic will drink, vanilla, rubbing alcohol,

aftershave, etc., so this is very very sad, and I don't know how it get's down

past the esophogus, but does and they survive! Evidentley this boy is finding

the Robitussion in place of something, I do belive

there is a min ute amt.in it, as nyquil, I hope he get's good help and can stay

sober. I have a younger brother who really needs help with 2 sm. children but

does not accept he is this bad, and refusing TX, and we are at a family

intervention with him but he just doesn't get it. It kills me to think where he

is going to be and how far he has sunk, he is a great talented chef, who would

otherwise give the shirt of his back to a stranger, and can not see himself in

the mirror looking like he is going to die if doesn't give up the straight

vodka, has not worked in yr and always had a job,but went through a seperation

and only added to self distruction, he has custody of the children though, which

is what he fought so hard for, as she is a waste case and real bad. Well kept
