If women have a lichen disorder that is causing skin fusing, they can help keep the vagina open when intercourse isn't an option. For people with pain during intercourse, they can help stretch the opening in non-threatening, controlled way, and they can be used as part of relaxation exercises to train the body to know that having something inserted in the vagina is ok and not painful.
