Guest guest
I went to the light treatment office at U of M. Insurance paid for it and I felt it was safer to be monitored by experts. I have read that some people here have gone to a tanning salon, but those have always made me nervous because I have had bad sunburns when I was young and have avoided the sun for many years. Also my skin is rather fair and my parents have both had mild skin cancer. The light exposure started with just 12 seconds and increased each time. I went 2 or 3 times a week and stood in a light booth with my eyes covered with those froggy eye protectors and a pillow case over my head to protect my face. After 5 weeks the itch was gone. I haven't heard anyone discuss the success rate of using sunlight for relief, as with Cindy, I live in Michigan and sun light is not always available or intense. Guest guest
You can use a regular tanning bed, but the UVB lights that some tanners have are better. I use the regular ones, use lots of sunscreen and it helps me. Living in Michigan, I can't count on sunshine every day....not even every other day. Guest guest
-----Original Message----- Any comments on this from the folks in the South? Ken does his very best to stay out of the sun light, on those days when he is out in it, even for a little while, he seems to have even more itching. He has never tried a tanning bed. Guest guest
I go to the tanning bed about 3 times a week for about 8 minutes each time, I also take rifampin and between the two do pretty good. I live in South Carolina and during the summer just getting in the sun a lttle helps me, Once in awhile at night I have to add Benedryl. I hope you find something that helps, it is as bad as pain!!
