Guest guest
Willie's ears are very sensitive barometers of his allergies/sensitivities, too. They aren't specific to phenols but seem to react to many things. Why? Redness results from increased blood flow (flushing after exercise for example) or blood vessel constriction. Redness from an infected cut follows the immune system sending in cells and the resulting die off, which irritate and put pressure on the vessels. The ears are the thinnest, fully visible parts of the body, full of blood vessels. If the blood vessels in the head begin to contract, or if inflammatory processes begin, the ears are likely to turn red. Because Willie is very fair, his ears show this inflammatory process more than most allergic people. (He also has large ears. lol but so did Gable.) Think of migraine headaches, where the increased blood pressure in the vessels in the brain make you think you will explode. The pressure in migraines comes from contraction in the vessels. Just writing this is giving me a headache.
