Guest guest
No, Jett-Scherder does NOT have her " new " liver... that is, not yet. Once again, the best way to stay updated on 's progress is to check in with her journal at her CaringBridge site: http://www.caringbridge.org/cb/inputSiteName.do?method=search & siteName=melan iejs averages about 2 CaringBridge posts per day, & reallyreallyreally appreciates all those who have signed her guestbook. You can also check a box at her CaringBridge site, indicating you'd like to receive e-mail notifications of any updates. That makes it very easy & convenient, to know " when " to check for her latest updates ( & leave her a much-appreciated note of encouragement!). For your convenience, here's her latest post from today, Wednesday (I know you might be reading this tomorrow, but I'm writing this from California... where it's still Wednesday for a few more minutes!): WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20, 2007 08:18 PM, CDT " OK, here's the scoop...Doctors agreed that I should stay and investigate the urinary tract issue. They have me scheduled for a CT, with contrast, tomorrow to rule out a tumor and kidney stones (especially since I've had one before). If we can rule those out then he's going to request a consult with an urologist and have him to a cystogram to look at the inside of my bladder, as well. I told him that the ER doc, a couple of weeks ago, said he believed there was a rupture in the lining of my kidney (but didn't believe it had anything to do with my INR). He said, imitating the doc, that it's just hematuria - no big deal, but said it could be a big deal and we need to make sure that it's not a tumor or stone. I'm okay with that. As far as the blood thinner issue, they gave me a shot of Lovonox tonight, and they'll give me two more tomorrow. They are also going to start me on 2 mg. of coumadin. He said he wants just enough coumadin in me that if my INR shoots up it doesn't go over 2.5. I am to get my INR checked on Sat. and again on Mon. In the meantime my MELD score is high and if a liver comes in they will take me to surgery regardless of the Lovonox -- it'll be worth the risk, they assured me. Once I'm done with these three Lovonox injections, my risks will be virtually non-existent because we can bring an INR of 2.5 down quickly and easily. Yeah! They are expecting to release me tomorrow or Friday, assuming that the CT scan rules out the serious issues. I can do the cystogram as an outpatient. That's fine with me. Today, (from the PSC support group) came by to see me. It was so nice to have his company! (from the group) is due in on Sat. I'll be hanging with the two of them this weekend, as well as 's family. I am looking forward to spending time with them!!! Also, a few of my male friends from MO called last night and they are thinking of coming up to see me. That would be great fun, as well! With and I'm sure we can stir up some trouble and if we add the crazy Missourians...well, watch out Cleveland! I'll post again tomorrow when I know more. Thank you for all the kind notes, you all keep me going. I'm here without family and that's a strange feeling, but when I get on here and read your notes I'm reminded that I'm not really alone at all! Huge hugs to all, " Tim, Ken & - congratulations to all Tim, Ken & , I believe this is an amazing day for this group - 3 people got new livers in the last 24 hours or so. I don't recall this ever happening before. Congratulations to all of you. You and your families are in my thoughts, as are the families of those who donated their livers. -Marie
