It is a great letter. You express yourself very well.

But perhaps you should think about why you are sending

it and what you expect to accomplish and decide

whether it is wise to send it.

I don't think he will appreciate it at all. It is

messing with a person who has a lot of power and can

put all kinds of things in the data bases including

that letter into your file forever. He doesn't want to

hear it, doesn't care, isn't going to change as a

result of it, and it may make a big ego really

annoyed.

You asked. I answered.

I don't blame you though for feeling the way you do.

Thanks for the support re the letter y'all. I don't want to shorten

it because I feel it loses its impact without the direct quotes from

the SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE that this doctor actually participates in

(she's a researcher). And, if she doesn't want to read it that's

fine, because perhaps the administrator of the hospital, the customer

service manager, and the state's department of managed care WILL read

it (I'm sending it to them) and follow up with her. At that point it

will be in her best interest to read it so she can defend herself.

I'm also looking for a good, succinct medical journal article that

states that 50% of vulvodynia cases are cured spontaenously (I've

seen this number thrown around) and the cases that are cured through

various means.

I want to send it for ME, to stand up to a woman who took my hope

away and robbed me of two months of wellness while I tried to get

back on my feet again because of the erroneous info she so

careleessly fed to me. I also want her to know that it's not ok to

give your patients false information, because vulvodynia is curable

and treatable. The only power she has is the ability to fire me as a

patient which is fine because there are two other doctors within

driving distance of me that do see vulvodynia patients if I ever even

need them again. And if she puts the info into my NID file oh well.

It just flags her as being a questionable doc as well.

I want everyone to know that in no way does this research

suggest " it's all in your head. " It suggests that ALL medical

problems are a mind component to them and that by supporting patients

for all diseases emotionally in addition to getting to the root cause

of the problem is the best way to get people and keep them healthy.

Medicine is still incredibly sexist and docs (even women docs) tend

to pat women on the head and say, " Tsk, tsk, emotional issue, " when

truly it's very difficult to tease out what is the emotional

component for many types of health problems especially chronic pain.
