Guest guest
Millie, I would ask for blood tests for sure. They are more accurate (as far as I understand)...and for you it doesn't matter when you have it done considering you have had your ovaries removed. It could be very helpful for you to see what your levels are, do you have a doc that will work with you considering your past history of breast cancer? All of this stuff is so hard, but we've got to keep trying. If we don't have good hormone levels, that in and of itself can wreak havoc on uro/genital tissues and sex drive...along with other issues... Make sure the lab order is for your ESTRADIOL level...I would ask for Total Testosterone level and the FREE Testosterone level. If you have any questions, just let me know.... Guest guest
Thank you, but I am very confused. I looked it up on the website and they say that there is no clear way of saying what each girls level means. I feel confused. Guest guest
I did hear from Chelle. Thank you girls, I was beginning to think no one was interested in me. I know my problems are different than most woman, anyway, I feel so confused, I put a hit into the computer and it says that it is very hard to determine from hormone testing if the levels are bad or good. They say that every lab has its own values. I feel very confused, if I do get the hormones tested how will I know if I am low or high or it is bad or good. Millie Millie - hormone testing Millie,Please search the archives for more info. on hormone testing (and I'mhoping Chelle will chime in here as well). It should be blood testing, but I'm not sure which days because it's different for where you arein your life and cycles. I strongly recommend that you get a copy ofVliet's book, "Screaming to be heard" - the best primer on hormonesthat most of us have found. I am learning SO much and I'm only about1/5 of the way through the book. =) Where do you live? There may be agood hormone clinic near you depending on part of the country...Melinda

Millie Millie, the best advice I can give you would be to read the book Melinda mentioned. In my opinion, Dr. Vliet has the best info on hormones, but I'm sure not everyone would agree. And you are very right...labs are different and the ranges are so broad it makes me want to scream. I can give you some basic info from Vliet's book, but honestly, it would be good for you to read what you can and understand it. It's harder for docs to blow us off if we know what we are talking about. don't worry, no-one is tired of hearing from you...keep in mind that the group activity slows down from time to time and sometimes if people haven't tried something you ask about, they simply may not know how to respond. I always tell people to keep posting...someone will surely get back with you eventually. Hugs, Chelle
