Guest guest
Eva, have you tried to come off the bc pill to 'see' if you do any better with the pain? The pill has been linked to vestibulitis in studies. I know for sure the synthetic progestins in the bc pill are very hard on me (my bladder & vulvar skin). I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for 3.5 yrs. and when I came off, I did better. Also, that particular bc pill absolutely 'stole' my sex drive. I had none!!! I use Estrace cream 'topically' not vaginally to help my vulvar skin. The bc pill can block Estrogen and Testosterone Receptors in the Vulvar skin. When it does, it can affect the skin, causing rawness and irritation. It took a little time, but after I began using the Estrace cream, it slowly built the tissue back up to normal. I even had a few vulvar skin 'tears' before I used it, they healed and I've never had another one since. I'll send in some info that you can read through about this... also, you can go to our homepage and type in anything you want in the search box and it will go back through years of posts and give info to help! I totally understand about the limited funds. We all share your pain in that area, too. Some have spent OBSCENE amounts of money trying to get well. That is why I suggested that you possibly ask on here for a doc in your area. Experience means so much!!! It's exhausting, Eva trying to research, but you truly are your own best advocate. Read, read and read! Ask as many questions as you need too...and learn all you can. Hang in there! Hugs, ~Chelle
Guest guest
I've considered that, since I did a bit of research on it, but the doctor who diagnosed me didn't mention it as an option and I haven't been to another yet. That may change soon, of course; I have plenty of questions, but from what I'm hearing I'm imagining a combination of going off the pill and using both Estrace and lidocaine and seeing how that goes. Does Estrace have any common side effects, in your experience? What would you recommend using for birth control instead of the pill? I'd like to be a bit more protected than just condoms. Heh, I'm certainly following your advice to ask plenty of questions. I'm sounding a bit like a broken record, but thank you again for answering them. I feel like I have the barest sketch of a real plan, now, and that's quite comforting. -Eva > > Eva, have you tried to come off the bc pill to 'see' if you do any better with the pain?
