Thanks for responding, Dr. ...but I'm wondering if maybe you misunderstood my questions. I'm not looking to anything that would 'enhance' intimacy for me. In all honesty...my husband and I have a wonderful connection; intimately speaking, the 'quality' is great. I had to ask him if he knew what tantric sex even meant...I didn't have a clue My concern is the surgery interfering in any way with the 'ability' to be intimate. Which no amount of 'enhancing' would undo! *yikes* >>>>>>By far the best way to minimize the consequences of the hysterectomy would be to discuss your concerns IN DETAIL, BEFORE, with your surgeon. By “before” I don’t mean after you’ve been half-anesthetized in the operating room; I mean NOW! If you don’t feel that (s)he is getting your point, it might be worth pointing to a different surgeon. I certainly agree that I need to find out NOW and not later...but seems like medical school doesn't always teach or focus on female sexuality. I could go to several docs for an opinion...but I'm not sure it would matter. From what I understand, medical text books in the past were notorious for blaming female sexual dysfunction on psychogenic causes. If she's frigid, it's in her head, if it hurts, it's in her head. *arg* Don't get me wrong...I believe there is a mind/body connection...but every sexual problem is NOT in the mind...and I realize you, unlike some docs, understand this due to your background and your knowledge of Vulvodynia. Thanks for responding...~Chelle
