Remember it's not just the foods, but the QUANTITY as well. There are many

low fat, high protein items you can eat (chicken breasts, seafood, etc.)

plus, there are low carb breads you can use for sandwichs. Use them for

toast and have a hard boiled egg for breakfast.

Plan your dinner and have a snack later in the evening (sometimes a late

night snack will actually keep you from having high numbers in the morning.

Try it.

I've taken my dinner in the past and split it into two parts. Ate part at

'dinner' time and ate the rest a couple hours later (I generally stay up

until midnight)...

Panera has a good Italian Herb low carb bread although where I live

expensive: $6/lb! But sometimes it is worth it. I just tried the Wonder

Bread Light (low carb) and I think with some spread or jam it will start

tasting better. It's a bit rubbery LOL...

I grew up eating 2-3 eggs a day (family culture diet etc) but switched to a

brand called 'Better Than Eggs' which I think is better than Eggbeaters and

is less expensive I think. 1 egg is about 70 calories and 1/2 cup phoney

stuff is equal to one egg and is only 60 calories. I forget the carbs but

they aren't *bad*. To make it taste better I use garlic and onion powder

and some salt.

I'm still not brave enough with my food to figure out a snack and a snack

time, no less split dinner to dinner time and then before going to sleep.

Anyway, with GERD you aren't supposed to eat just before going to sleep.

What fun.....

Judith,

I was actually originally diagnosed with IBS, but when I ended up in

horrible pain one day, and throwing up, I went to Urgent Care. They sent me

to a urologist, and it turned out that what I really had was kidney stones.

The doctor who diagnosed me with IBS said himself that they don't really

know exactly what it is, and that he wasn't sure that is what I had. Here

is a site that tells about oxalates much better than I can:

http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=george & dbid=48

Most people want to eat a high oxalate diet, but I am one of the ones who is

supposed to keep mine low.

Barbara,

What is " oxalate " ? It sounds like stuff I have trouble eating too because

of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I also have to watch my triglycerides which

are 50% better than the last blood test I took, and suddenly have 'fatty

liver'.

thanks! I'll go look. I don't have kidney stones. Ultra sounded for them

and whatever else they do to check for them.
