Perhaps try foam or a different mattress. We bought a new mattress from healthychild.com and also use target 1 1/2 inch foam. My son did wear the DOC helmet for 9 weeks and we saw great improvement but continue to use the foam and new mattress with success. Good luck. Tammy We also use the angel care monitor under the mattress that beeps if he stops breathing for 15 seconds. Just helps me sleep. marcyeiseman <marcyeiseman@...> wrote: I

HI, thanks for the idea with the foam mattress--she is still in a bassinet, with the angel care monitor on every night since i have her on her belly... I looked into some of those memory foam pillows(like the ones that cost $300 from temperpedic), to put her on her back, and have her head lay on those since they are said to cushion the body??? I dont have her crib set up yet since my one year old is still in it--I didnt think I would have to tranfer her into a crib this early-nor by new "foam" mattress for her delicate head!

I just bought the foam at target. I believe it was 1 1/2 inches thick and cost about 50 bucks. I think it works great. I would consider buying it and cutting it to fit the crib. If you are going to spend 300 on temperpedic get a natural cotton organic crib mattress and cover it with the 50 dollar foam. This combo will cost the same and the chemicals are so much less in the natural beds. I have a naturepedic 250 coil organic cotton crib mattress and love it. He sleeps well and I feel good about him being on a safe surface.
