Guest guest
Hello & welcome to the group. you can still get correction from repo at age 5 mo, but around 6 mo babies get a lot more mobile, so it isn't always as effective. One good thing to do is to take pics every week or two that show the plagio and see if you're getting improvement. Also set a deadline (maybe 2 mo) and if you're not happy with the shape go ahead and band. I would also suggest posting pics here to get opinions about severity. Some doctors tend to downplay plagio. Usually top views show plagio the most, but it depends on your child's head. I really don't know if an osteopath will work. Is that like cranial sacral therapy? Some people say it works, and others say it doesn't - there aren't good studies that I know of. Banding is proven to be effective. My daughter had severe brachy (flat in back) and got her band at 5 mo and got very good correction. If you do end up with a helmet it is really not that bad. It just takes a little getting used to (in terms of routine and your mindset). take care. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > Hello, > I am new to this group. Guest guest
Dear , Reagan, and Tammy, Many thanks for replying so quickly with info and advice on posting pics. I have added a few in an album called " Klara - Brussels - 5 months old " . Thought it is difficult to see her head well because she has so much hair, i guess you will be able to see the degree of her plagio. I would be grateful to have your feedback on the pics, at your convenience. Many thanks again for your help. Take care and all the best ivanka
Guest guest
Hi, From what I see I think a band would help. It is a little hard to tell in those pics but she looks flat in back with extra height, asymmetry and proably some extra width. I don't really think it is mild, but its a little hard to say. Try a photo looking down directly at the top of her head while her hair is wet (in the bath). I suspect you'll see the asymmetry and extra width there. You can take a look at my daughter's pics to see what I mean about extra width. Her before is at 5 mo and after at 10 mo (both are posted). They are in Our Plagio Babies S/Sydney M. My daughter had severe brachy (flat in back) but only 4.5 mm of asymmetry. So her plagio was mild. Her helmet directed growth to the back of her head, so it changed the overall proportion of her head. It is still wider than normal but much better. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > Dear , Reagan, and Tammy, > Many thanks for replying so quickly with info and advice on posting > pics.
