Guest guest
Lori, For immediate relief, try using Lansinoh for the cracking. Also, gentian violet did not work for me, so my pediatrician said to use over the counter miconozole cream for vaginal yeast infections & apply it to the nipple. You don't have to wash it off before feeding your baby as it is safe for your child. They now make miconozole lozenges for thrush in adults that is the same medication. This worked immediately for me! I put the cream on first then applied lansinoh over it. I still use it occasionally if it feels like the thrush may be trying to come back. Also, eliminating sugar from your diet will help. At the holidays, this can be extremely difficult, but it does help. I know that I haven't watched it as close as usual so I am battling severe nipple pain again. Try to express as much as you can in the meantime. You could even put the lansinoh on then express with your pump then reapply the lansinoh. Whatever you can do to get milk out so you don't dry up too much. Guest guest
Lori, I hope things are going better. If you are still in pain, try the tylenol or motrin, or both, I had sore nipples forever with my first andf lived on Motrin until thery healed. Amy Lynn mother to 1-25-98 and 2-10-00 Want great toys? The problem is I can't pump right now. My nipples are cracked and bleeding. Extremely painful! Lori Edelen Web Application Developer Lattestone.com Re: Thrush help!!! Lori, It sounds, from previous replies, that gentian violet will help you fast and effectively. I'll just add that you can also take Tylenol, acetaminophen, or Motrin, ibuprofen, or both, for your pain. You don't need to wash off the gentian violet, you can also put it on baby. Herbs for your milk supply--blessed thistle, fenugreek, brewer's yeast, Mother's Milk Tea. Pump some through the day for feedings missed or you'll compound issues by becoming engorged. Give baby anything you express before giving formula, and dig into your freezer stash, if you have one, too. Amy Lynn mother to 1-25-98 and 2-10-00 Want great toys? Guest guest
My sister has been battling thrush for almost a year on and off and has recently found that cranberry juice helps.
