How old is your son? My son just received his band last Friday and I swear I already see improvement. My son, Christian, will be 9mos old tomorrow. He has done awesome in his band too. I was so very relieved. I agree that its by the grace of God that he has continued to live and play as he did before the band. Did you decorate the band? I decorated my son's with Argentina soccer colors. I put his name across it, well his middle name, Diego and placed a #10 on the back with his last name over it. My husband is a soccer coach and his all time soccer fav is Diego Maradona who played for Argentina and sports a #10. Anyway, I found decorating it lightens the whole idea of it even more. Also, my son still wears pull over shirts. If the shirts has a smaller hole than I take the band off and put it right back on. However, I have found that we can put most of his shirts on with no problem while he is wearing the band. As far as his ears, I would

take him in. On the day Christian received his one ear was rubbing the side of the band and I had her shave some more off. Considering we would have him in it over the weekend for the first time, I didn't want to take any chances that we would have any problems. She did and now its about 1/2 inch away from his ears on each side. Good luck and God bless! Tammy (Christian's mommy, banded on 04.18.08)jnbhgf00 <tngenealogist@...> wrote: Things get better

every day. The biggest transition has been removing the helmet. Now he's helping us take it off. Tuesday was the longest day he'd worn it, and the first time it smelled. After it was off a few minutes, his head smelled like his shampoo. We were concerned about the helmet rubbing his ears. This morning we noticed the back of his ears are getting irritated. I'm not sure if I need to take him to the ortho before his 2 week follow-up. Guess I'll watch it. We're getting so much support from people around us. I didn't realize until last minute (with help from this board) that pullover shirts were out. We've had some people buy or loan us button down shirts. We haven't had questions from daycare. More help from teachers than anything. We've had a couple of people say he really looks cute. Some seniors and youth at church asked why he has to wear it. Our first time out, no one even looked at him. I hope no one is offended

when I say ... I'm thankful for God helping us ... if you're deciding or just getting started ... be positive and expect the best!!!!!

My son is 10 mos old. We both feel like there's improvement.

What a neat way to decorate. RHS suggests stickers rather than

paint. Everyone mentions the Titans b/c we live in TN. We haven't

found a theme we want yet.

Only really loose undershirts would go over the helmet. The button

down shirts are more a convenience for daycare and church nursery.

He was due for spring/summer clothes anyway.

We're taking him in Monday. I'm so thankful for convenience. There

are two offices (staffed by the same orthotists) no more than 15

minutes from my job. I've read about other people who have to drive

farther, or even fly, to appointments.
