I haven't heard of anyone saying not to wear it in the car. If I

didn't let my son wear his in the car, he would be out of his helmet

for well over the one hour a day (especially when we have to drive 3

hours each way for an adjustment). Why did he say it wasn't

recommended? I understand it shouldn't be thought of as a

safety/protective device if there was an accident, in which case it's

really just like wearing a hat really. But I can't think of any other

reason it should not be worn in the car.

We were told it was ok to wear in the a car. Since the car is so hot,

dress the baby light and keep the AC on. We haven't had any issues so

far with our son wearing it in the car.

Our ortho said it was perfectly safe to have our son wear the helmet

in the car. My son was already moved to his bigger carseat so I

don't know about the infant carriers and helmets. My hunch would be

that if the angle of the seat is correct then any seat should be

fine for helmet wear. At babydagny.com you can get a car seat

chiller which will help keep the seat cooler and keep the baby

cooler. And like Jenn said, dress the baby light and keep the AC

on. Maybe even cool off the car before getting in.

Never had a problem with him wearing a helmet in the car. Never heard such a thing from my orthodist.

On the info sheet that they gave me it says - " it's not recommended

to wear the helmet in the car because car seats were not designed

with a helmet in mind and it is not known how the helmet would

affect your child in the even of a motor vehicle accident. "

I asked my doctor today and she really didn't give me a straight

answer...
