He would have to be careful to use self-contained equipment to make these, so as not to expose these products to cross-contamination. Also, did you mention casein-free status as well? If he can pull this off, we would stop in for a half-dozen every week.
Guest guest
Carmen, thanks...I was thinking why the heck didn't I ever go into sales as I felt an adrenaline rush over the money this guy could make! In another life, ey? I hope all is well. JoAnne Carmen Sargent wrote: > > JoAnne, > > This would be wonderful. Guest guest
, You are right to mention cross contamination, it could be a REAL ISSUE. I usually call directly and ask very direct questions, especially detailing the cross contamination. Even the GFCFDIET site indicates sometimes that products are 100%, I still call and ask for it in writing or e-mail. Recently the GFCFDIET indicated that SACO real semi-sweet Chocolate CHUNKS were both GF&CF, I deceided to e-mail them, this is what they said: Dear Ms. Lentine: Thank you for your recent email and for your interest in SACO real semi-sweet Chocolate CHUNKS. We enjoyed hearing from you. Our CHUNKS are, in fact, 100% casein and gluten free. Our Premium Cocoa is also free of gluten and casein. Both of these products are very safe for you to use with your children. We appreciate your taking the time to contact us. Please don't hesitate to let me know if we can be of any further assistance. Sincerely, -- Amy Director of Consumer Affairs SACO Foods, Inc. SOOO I DECEIDED TO PUSH THE CROSS CONTAMINATION ISSUE, & THIS WAS THE ANSWER: Amy, Thank you so much for you fast response. Can you provide me with a detail list so we can share it with many parents and post on our egroup. P.S. Is there any chance of cross contamination? Is the same machinery used for non-gluten, non-casein products? Is it sterilized in between? What precautions are used? Thank you in advance, Carmelina Lentine AMSWER: Dear Ms. Lentine: Our Premium Cocoa and the CHUNKS are run on lines that also run milk chocolate wafers, which contain casein. All equipment is thoroughly cleaned in-between products, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that they are sterilized. The parts of the equipment that can be disassembled are washed with soap and hot water, but there are parts that just get wiped down because they cannot come apart. For this reason, if the allergy that your children have is this sensitive, we would not recommend either product for them. We did not realize how sensitive this allergy can be and are, therefore, glad you asked this question. It is a good aspect for us to know, and we will keep it in mind for questions from future consumers. With this in mind, there really is not a list of products that we can provide you with for your group, which we would guarantee any of our products as being free from any possible cross-contamination from other products run on the same packaging equipment. Again, we thank you for your interest in our products. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any further questions, or any comments. Sincerely, -- Amy Director of Consumer Affairs SORRY FOR THE LONG POST, BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS IMPORTANT TO SHOW THE EVOLUTION. > In a message dated 9/18/00 11:42:24 AM Eastern Daylight Time, > carmen.sargent@c... writes: > > << I tell the guy I know a lot of kids on such a diet and > > there could be a real opportunity for this guy. Guest guest
I can pretty much guarantee you this guy isn't going to buy all new dedicated equipment for us! I don't know how worried I am about cross contamination dare I admit that! I'll have to think on this.... Guest guest
<< I don't know, maybe the place I used to go to will do it. I will have to ask around. My neighbor owns a Duncan Donuts, does that count? ) >> Gluten free bagels made in a Dunkin Donuts seems almost obscene! But hey, who knows. Maybe there is a day each week when they completely clean off the machines. Great news about the video. Are you coming to arts & crafts next week? I can make a copy over night and return the next day. Thanks! Barb
