Guest guest
Hi Kathleen ... welcome to our group and gl to you and your husband! Rita Another newbie! Hi all- Just wanted to introduce myself after lurking for several weeks. Everytime I think about posting, I find that it is all that I can do to keep up with the messages that are already posted! I am on W6/D3 of BFL. I was inspired my sister-in-law who lost a dress size in about 4 weeks of being on BFL. I started about 15-20 lbs overweight (on the scale) and have only lost about 5 pounds so far. The change in my body has been pretty amazing though--3 inches on the waist, 1.5 on the hips and about 1 on the bust (where I can ill-afford to lose it!). I'd like to think that my two children (a 3.5 yo son and an almost 1 yo daughter) are the main reason for my weight gain, but I know that is not entirely true. After I had my son, I did Weight Watchers and got down lower than I had been before I got pregnant--without exercising. After my daughter was born, I started doing Jazzercise, and that actually got me excited to exercise (if there can be such a thing LOL). That in itself wasn't doing the trick, though, so I am glad to have found BFL. So far I think things are going pretty well. Of course I get discouraged when I don't see a change on the scale, but I feel so much better about myself. I have more energy and am a good tired (as opposed to being a lazy tired). My husband is also doing this with me. I think it is a testament to the program when he can become a convert! He was once a sugar junkie--always eating candy here and there (not chocolate, just candy). Now he hardly even eats it on cheat day! This is the man who put sugar on frosted flakes. Granted, he still does use sugar, but he is much more moderate. Anyhow, I love the program and just wanted to introduce myself to you all. Welcome to the group, Kathleen! I think it's awesome that you and your hubby are doing this together I know I couldn't do it without DH's participation and support (Although I could sometimes live without the scenario that happened this morning.. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, and welcome to the club. 3 " off your waist and 1.5 off your hips in five weeks is great! You are not even to the point where most people start to see the biggest results, and already you are slimmer. That's great. You need to divorce yourself from the scale. It lies to you, telling you that you are making no progress when really it is just ignorant of the facts. As you are gaining muscle and loosing fat, you scale weight is not an accurate reflection of your progress. In the end, scale weight does not matter at all. The important thing is your Body Fat percentage, and how you feel. For me, the biggest gift of this program is the energy and strength that it gives. I totally had to laugh at him when I " caught " him trying (and to give him credit, partially succeeding) to make his pecs " bounce " back and forth. Admittedly I have spent more time in front of the mirror too--although mine is usually more concentrated on pushing my tummy flab in and dreaming what I will look like without it! lol Kathleen
Guest guest
Thanks Alys. You are absolutely right about divorcing myself from the scale. (That's a big difference from Weight Watchers!) I guess I like to torture myself with what my weight actually is. The fact of the matter is that when I started, I was wearing a comfie size 12, now I am in a comfie size 10 and a tight (but getting looser) 8. I know that (for me) the results have been great. I do have some callipers for measuring fat. Just the cheap accumeasure(?) ones. Either I am horrible at it (which is probably part of the problem--not measuring in the same spot) or they are not really an " accumeasure " ! Anyone have any suggestions? Guest guest
Hello , It is always my pleasure to help in any way I can and believe me the gift is to me to get to know someone as nice as you. Congratulations on your baby. There is nothing more precious than a little child. If you ask your doctor, he/she will most likely tell you it is fine to do LifeLift when you are pregnant. I have heard from many, many women who have asked their doctors and with their approval they have continued to do LifeLift all the way through their pregnancies. So far I have not heard of one who said it was not ok. I have the warning in the video as a precaution. I think any exercise program should be responsible enough to put the warnings so that your personal doctor can advise you. Take care, Rashelle Another newbie! Hello everyone, I am another newbie. First of all, I want to say thank you to Rashelle. She personally called me twice when I had questions. I was very impressed by this. It really shows where your heart is, thank you. I do have a question for all of you. I know it is not okay to do LL while pregnant......so what do you do when you don't know if you are or aren't? I am not pregnant right now, in fact, I just had a baby 5 months ago. BUT.... I hope to have more if it's the Lord's will for my life. So, is it okay to be doing LL in the beginning and then stop when you find out or what do you suggest? Thanks,
Guest guest
Welcome - I'm new too, so we'll explore this group together! :-) Mom to , 7 unaffected , 4 GSD, primary ID Meredith, 2 GSD Huntsville, AL Another Newbie! Like someone else said, I can't believe I haven't found this group sooner. Thank you in advance for everyone's support!! I have 3 children ,9, Mari, 4, and Max 7months. is my one with an official diagnosis of IGG subclass deficiency, no pneumoccal antibody response, along with asthma,GERD, mold allergy, and hypoplastic sinus. He also is having recurrent (actually more like chronic) leukopenia and sl neutropenia that no one can figure out why. (We have met with a hematologist last spring. I also have a feeling that there is more to this than just a subclass deficiency but none of his docs have gone any further with it. Mari is my " healthy child " , just needed some ear tubes and adenoids out, and oh yeah has a soy allergy. Max seems to be following in hi's brother's footsteps. He had ear tubes at 3 months, is already on chronic asthma treatment, and currently has a sinus infection that is on it's 3rd antibiotic to get rid of. He has had labs drawn 2 wks ago that showed subclas 2 deficiency and a " low normal " total IGG level. He did make some repsonse to Diptheria and tetanus vaccine, but we weren't able to test the pneumoccal yet because he's missing a dose. No one has discussed with me yet what this means, but I'm wondering if there is something X linked that our docs our missing. I also don't know what testing to push for or even what to do. Before was diagnosed he had 2 PICC lines for infections, 3 brinch's, 9 sinus surgeries. It actually took a funga l infection in his sinus' to get him offically diagnosed. I don't want that to happen with Max. currently gets 17.5grams of IVIG (various brands but mostly gammunex or gammuguard) every 3 weeks thru his port a cath. We did try him off IVIG last summer but his repeat labs this fall included a low total IGG along with all subclasses low, along with no vaccine response to pneumococcal, polio, and pertussis so we restarted IVIG (he was also sick and exposed to chicken pox and the time and has no immunity to that either. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks for listening. Missy --------------------------------- Expecting? Get great news right away with email Auto-Check. Try the Beta. Guest guest
Hi! My daughter has been referred to Dr. Graham at Cedars for a plagiocephaly exam -- her pediatrician is not sure if she has it or not. Her appointment is on April 2nd. The wait is killing me! A quick question for you moms - did you notice facial asymmetry on your LO? Were you surprised by the results of the tests done by your specialist? I am trying to prepare myself for banding, but relatives keep telling me that she looks perfect (despite the bald spot and slight flattening on the back left side of her head). They are making me question the whole process. Any advice you could offer would be great. Thanks!
Guest guest
Hi, Don't worry, I know the wait is the hardest. My daughter has plagio and has had her helmet for almost 3 months (almost done!) Friends and family always said..."oh I think she looks fine and I don't really see anything"...making us question everything as well, but once you meet with the Dr. you'll know either way for sure. Lily had slight facial asymmetry that WE hadn't even noticed but would have gotten worse as well as her ears we're off too. But it's all getting better. The only thing we were suprised at was once she was scanned it showed us really how the forhead and ears were staring to protrude and grow opposite of each other. She is great now but don't worry everything WILL be ok. Just go in there with confidence that they really know what they are doing and if it comes out she does have plagio and even facial asemmetry you'll get banded and it will be over and done with in a few months time and she be even more perfect than she already is. :-) You'll do great and so will she! Guest guest
, I noticed every little imperfection in my son when others did not. I think my son is the most beautiful thing in the world and although I don't think his plagio or asymmetry are very bad, I decided to band. Sometimes I even felt like, am I seeing things because friends and family didn't see what I saw but when I took him to cranial technologies they pointed out the same things I had already noticed so I knew I wasn't crazy. I also felt like am I being too much of a perfectionist, I mean my son is healthy and no one else notices so why am I concerned but I knew there was something a little off. He's had his DOCband on since yesterday morning and is doing great. He even slept in it last night. He did wake up a little more than usual but just to find a new comfy position. During the day he really doesn't even seem to know that it is on his head. So far the only problem is that it pushes the skin down over one of his eyes on one side which makes him look a little like Popeye but I called CT and they said that it is just his skin being pushed down and they moved his first check up to Friday instead of Monday so that made me feel better. I think from what the other mom's have said that sometimes it just takes one or two times to get the fit exactly perfect. Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that if you see it, it's there. You wouldn't just make up something like this so good luck with the band process if you need to get it. It's not that bad. My son is predicted to have it for 2.5 to 3 months. Think about how fast the past few months have gone by, when or if your child gets a band, the time will fly by. Good Luck. Sybil JenandLuli@... wrote: Welcome ! Guest guest
Thanks, everyone! The more I look at her head, the more I think she will need to be banded. I posted pictures of her (her name is Caroline) with the other C babies -- feel free to give me your opinion! (Her doctor also thought that she might have hydrocephalus because her head is off-the-charts big, so we had a brain ultrasound two weeks ago. It turned out, thank goodness, that she just has a huge head. I think those results might also be one reason why our families think that Caroline doesn't have plagiocephaly -- they think her doctor might be overzealous.) Caroline will be 7 months old when she sees Dr. Graham. I feel badly that she is so " old " -- we were positioning her a lot when she was really little, but stopped when we got positive results. I don't think that she has tort -- she turns both ways, but really, really loves to sleep on her left side. So great to hear from other moms-- and great to hear about your babies' results! Thanks! > Welcome ! I'm in the LA area too! > Everyone around me made me questionj myself too - I had to listen to my gut - I knew that something was not right. Guest guest
Hi - First of all, Caroline is adorable! Love those cheeks! To be honest, I'm having a hard time seeing the flat spot, at least from the aerial views, which are normally really good at showing it. Does she have one on the back of her head, or are you concerned about the side? From the top at least, it looks symmetrical to me. But maybe a straight-on side photo would be better? Can someone else please chime in if you see something that I'm not seeing? Jake-18m (tort resolved/rt plagio/DocBand 2/11/08) Jordan-4 > > Welcome ! Guest guest
Hi , I see some asymmetry, but it doesn't look too bad to me. But I do think it would be worth getting her evaluated by someone knowledgeable about plagio. We saw a cranial facial plastic surgeon who measured my daughter's head and gave us his opinion. That was really helpful in deciding to band (that is when I realized her head was quite bad). My daughter also has a giant head (grew tons birth to 6 mo) and we also had an u/s to rule out hydrocephalus. she's now 2 and very healthy with a giant head :-) -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > Welcome ! Guest guest
Thanks for the comments and thoughts, ladies! I see the asymmetry as well. I am anxiously awaiting our appointment and will report back with Dr. Graham's assessment on the 2nd. Thanks again! > > > Welcome !
