Hi, everyone! I live in Los Angeles and my daughter Caroline was

referred to Dr. Graham at Cedars. I posted her pictures and read a

lot of messages from this board to prepare for the appointment. The

support and information was invaluable.

We had an appointment scheduled for April 2nd, but we got a call

yesterday that they had had a cancellation and we saw him today. I

wanted to write about what happens at the assessment in case it

helps anyone else going to see Dr. Graham. We arrived at Cedars and

were seen first by the nurse, who weighed Caroline and measured her

head and length. We then went in to meet with Dr. Graham, who was a

little awkward but nice. (I had read bad reviews of his bedside

manner and, while he was a little odd, thought he was better than

the reviews.) He measured my head and the head of my husband. (We

both have huge heads.) He then took Caroline and did about ten

measurements of her head with a measuring tape and then did

additional measurements with what looked like calipers. He

manipulated her legs and hips to make sure that they were moving

correctly and rubbed her head sutures. He also picked her up and

moved her head from side to side. (Caroline cried through the

entire examination. :()

He found that she has a head with very little asymmetry (she was

mostly symmetrical with one measurement which was <3) and with a

long and lean shape. He said that her head shape is the shape most

kids had when they were put on their stomachs to sleep (even though

she always slept on her back), and that my pediatrician might not

have been as familiar with her shape since the doctor is relatively

young and perhaps less experienced. Caroline doesn't need to be

banded.

Thank you all for your responses to my questions - I was very

anxious and hearing about your experiences made me a lot more

prepared and calm for the appointment! I also loved seeing all the

pictures of your beautiful babies (both banded and not banded!).

Thanks again,
