Guest guest
Hi bafisher, You don't mention what your daughter's BP is, so it is hard to say if you should be concerned or not. Has her IgAN advanced? I am 5'6 " and 120 pounds and yet I have very high blood pressure due to my IgAN being so advanced. As Pierre explained, if it is kidney related, it has to do with the amount of renin that your kidneys make. There are other causes of hypertension too though, and my guess is that her doctor is trying to identify the root cause of the increase in BP. Please keep us posted on what her doctors find. Guest guest
Welcome to our group. It's hard to answer your question about whether you should be worried, until those various tests are done. Blood pressure is a very variable thing. How high is high? It's common for IgAN to eventually cause high blood pressure, but it's really impossible to say anything at this point, so your family doctor is doing the right thing. Size has really nothing to do with the high blood pressure that kidney disease may cause. It's all about a certain hormone called renin that the kidneys pump out in order to raise the blood pressure on purpose. Trust me, I'm not that big myself. Never was. On the other hand, while my IgAN started when I was about 23 or 24, I didn't need to start dialysis until I was 49. So, even if your daughter's blood pressure is high now, it may be a controllable factor. There are many good BP medications now that didn't even exist when I started out with this. Guest guest
It's hard to say whether to worry or not. None of the things you mentioned are red flags in and of themselves (although the results from them might be), but I'm curious why the doc ordered them. When is she seeing the neph? My hunch is that he will be able to provide the real information and come up with a proper treatment plan for the BP. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Sometimes, the most reassuring thing you can do when things are uncertain is just be there for someone. I wish you all the best. Please let us know how it works out. Guest guest
You said possibly my hypertension could be related to something other than cortisol when I gave my sitting, laying down and standing numbers. Last summer when I requested a 24-hour urine test, the results were out of range cortisol, calcium, of course, and creatinine. I think that's telling me I need help there, so I don't know whether I should ask my doctor for a water pill or not, since I cannot take BP Meds. Thank's for whatever you can tell me about this, Val. Patl. Re: more HC today AT one point I needed 60mg daily but it was only a short period of time, 2 weeks was the max I stayed on that dose. Then my belly fat started growing fastr than i could just about watch it grow, so I cut back but It took about 2 months to go back to 30MG wher I stayed for months after that. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
Thank's so much,Val, You say to check to be certain I need HC. It may be the culprit, but I have almost eliminated that inner shakiness and afternoon depression, especially when I swapped one dose of Isocort for cream. Here are saliva labs from October: Estradiol 0.7 0.5-1.7 Progest 34 l2 - 100 Ratio 49L opptimal 100-500 Testos 49 16-55 age dependent Cortisol M 172H 3.7-9.5 Cortisol N 1.7 l.2-3.0 Cortisol E 1.6 0.6-1.9 Cortisol N 0.5 0.4-1.-0 But, BP did start increasing on HC, as much as I hate to admit that. Guest guest
Lol, Pat. I saw the 172 and was afraid to respond so I figured Val would because that is scary high. Glad it is only 17.2. Insomnia can cause elevated morning labs. Mine did back in May. My Dec. ones showed low cortisol (which was more in line with how I feel) and that was with using cortisol. Cheri Glad you noticed that, I didn't notice the decimal point missing. Morning cortisol is 17.2. Maybe it isn't so bad after all. It sure causes a a lot of shakiness or anxiety - but nothing like it had been for about 1 1/2 years. It should all go away again once I'm able to take thyroid. Thank's again, Pat . Guest guest
OK, I dropped 1 pellet today. Might be coincidental, but latest reading is l49/89 - haven't seen that in a while. Guest guest
Well, I will have to get my DHEA tested later when I do salivas. My family practice doctor at the lab I go to agreed to do ferritin and RT3, so felt fortunate. She said DHEA would only be tested if there were a fertility or facial hair issue. She's nice, and I like her, but I can't really talk to her. She asked if saliva labs are FDA approved and said adrenals are on a different loop than thyroid. Told her that they do work together and that's the reason the thyroid and BP med makes me toxic. Don't think I convinced her. I'd feel very much alone if I didn't have this group to get straight answers. Guest guest
We need your Free T3 to know if your RT3 is too high as it is the ratio odf the two that matters. but your FERRITIN is too low and THAT can cause intolerance ot thyroid meds. It should be between 70-90 for best health.
