Guest guest
My husband came up with the idea to make a template of my son's head. Upon, placing a completely round object on the template (bird's eye view), his head could not get anymore rounder. Any thoughts on this? I always thought that plagio would be most seen from a bird's eye view but in my son's case I think it is seen more from looking at the back of his head not looking down on it. Give me your feedback. Thanks again! > > > > > > > > Our doctor suggested pining a rolled up cloth diaper or a sock > > > filled with > > > > rice to the back of my son's clothes to keep him in one > position > > at > > > night. > > > > With something attached to him it made it more difficult to > move > > > around. > > > > > > > > Molly > > > > Novato, California > > > > Nicolas, 2, tort & plagio, STARband (CIRS Oakland) 4/24/06- > > 9/12/06, > > > > Graduate! > > > > , 5 > > > > , 8 > > > > > > > > 6 week old...slightly mishappened head > > > > > > > > Okay, so here I am scrutinizing my 6 week old son's head. > > Despite > > > > other people not seeing it (and only being able to see it in > > > certain > > > > angles), I think is head is very slightly mis-shappened on the > > > right > > > > side. Guest guest
Hi - I've been having the same thoughts lately myself. My son's flat spot is definitely more visible to the naked eye from the back. When I try to take a photo of him from bird's eye view, it barely looks flat at all. I do think that has something to do with the fact that it has rounded out on the top edge quite a bit, but then it's like a cliff and there's a drop off there where it is still definitely flat. When I take a photo straight on from behind, the flash reflects off his wet hair and you can't tell there's a flat spot. I've found if he has his head tilted downward a little, and I take a photo going up the back of his head, you can see the misshape really easy that way. Unfortunately, Cranial Tech didn't take a photo from that angle! So I don't think the before and after photos will seem very dramatic (except in his forehead bulge and ears hopefully). In any case, I can totally understand where it could look flat from behind and not from the top. I think it's logical that it might start getting flat at the bottom and work it's way up. So it could be round from the top, but be flat at the bottom, closer to the neck. You're definitely on top of things early though. I'm sure your repo efforts will keep it from getting any worse. Good luck! Guest guest
Thanks . I could see the drastic improvement with my 22 month old after his DOC band BUT the before and after pictures from CT didn't reflect it. I really do hope that my repo efforts will work as they didn't with my 22 month old (but that was also started closer to 3 months not day 1). Unfortunately and fortunately at the same time, my 7 week old today is a good sleeper at night (5-6 hour stretches) and pretty much has done at least 4 hour stretches since birth. I know some repo moms will wake up several times in the night to reposition....for me, I don't think that is best since I need sleep to keep up with my very active 22 month old. BUT I can definitely work on it during his naps. > > > > > > > > > > > > Our doctor suggested pining a rolled up cloth diaper or a > > sock > > > > > filled with > > > > > > rice to the back of my son's clothes to keep him in one > > > position > > > > at > > > > > night. > > > > > > With something attached to him it made it more difficult > to > > > move > > > > > around. > > > > > > > > > > > > Molly > > > > > > Novato, California > > > > > > Nicolas, 2, tort & plagio, STARband (CIRS Oakland) 4/24/06- > > > > 9/12/06, > > > > > > Graduate! > > > > > > , 5 > > > > > > , 8 > > > > > > > > > > > > 6 week old...slightly mishappened head > > > > > > > > > > > > Okay, so here I am scrutinizing my 6 week old son's head. > > > > Despite > > > > > > other people not seeing it (and only being able to see it > in > > > > > certain > > > > > > angles), I think is head is very slightly mis-shappened on > > the > > > > > right > > > > > > side. Guest guest
I don't blame you! I didn't wake my son up for repo either. One of the first things I remember our ped saying when my daughter was first born was, " there's no need to wake a sleeping baby, " and I've kind of lived by that rule ever since (my daughter was sleeping through the night at 8 days old). And both of my kids are FANTASTIC sleepers, so why mess with a good thing? Of course, that might be why my son is now in a band, but I really don't think it would have made that much of a difference. Anyway, definitely get your sleep! I just think it's great that you've been through the experience once and now know what to look for the second time around. Good luck! Guest guest
Thanks again . From seeing that my 2nd son has a slightly mis- shappened head AND this time I am aware of what to do to prevent it makes me think that it definitely can happen no matter what you do or don't do. Wow, sleeping through at 8 days!!! I'm happy with 5 or 6 hours right now. Anyways, thanks again for the confirmation that what I'm doing is okay. I'll talk to my husband to see what he thinks about posting pics so I can get feedback from people that will tell me the truth of what they see with Grant's headshape. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Our doctor suggested pining a rolled up cloth diaper > or > > a > > > > sock > > > > > > > filled with > > > > > > > > rice to the back of my son's clothes to keep him in > one > > > > > position > > > > > > at > > > > > > > night. > > > > > > > > With something attached to him it made it more > difficult > > > to > > > > > move > > > > > > > around. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Molly > > > > > > > > Novato, California > > > > > > > > Nicolas, 2, tort & plagio, STARband (CIRS Oakland) > > 4/24/06- > > > > > > 9/12/06, > > > > > > > > Graduate! > > > > > > > > , 5 > > > > > > > > , 8 > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 6 week old...slightly mishappened > head > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Okay, so here I am scrutinizing my 6 week old son's > > head. > > > > > > Despite > > > > > > > > other people not seeing it (and only being able to see > > it > > > in > > > > > > > certain > > > > > > > > angles), I think is head is very slightly mis- > shappened > > on > > > > the > > > > > > > right > > > > > > > > side.
