Guest guest
After months of repositioning, trying to get our ped to understand plagio, finally going to the neurologist, getting our PT involved AND being told several times that Firstcare would NOT cover the band....we got confirmation today from our orthotic guy that Firstcare has approved 's band as being medically necessary and is covering 80% of it. WOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!! We go Tuesday for our casting and she should be in her Starband by the end of the month. I ALMOST feel like I won the lottery!! Dawn (5 months old) right side torticollis (almost resolved) mild left side posterior plagiocephaly (slight improvement w/ repositioning) mild brachi
Guest guest
That is very excited on getting coverage. That will help so much. We have already been denied by United Healthcare and now have to appeal. I am not looking forward to the appeal process. How many times were you denied before they would cover? Is there anything in particular that changed their minds? I am hoping we can get UHC to cover some of it, but I am not hopeful at this point. Congrats again and good luck with your treatment. Guest guest
We were approved the first time it was submited. I think what helped the most was that we not only had documentation from her doctor but also from a speciaist(neurologist)and a physical therapist that we had been seeing for 2 months already for her plagio and torticollis. The neurologist had also recommended we see a cranio/facial specialist, which we have not done yet..but I think the combo of all those specialist documenting that we have been seeking help for 3 months now it ultimately what did it. The crazy thing is that they approved it and she has not been measured or anything so she has no label like " moderate or severe " as a matter of fact I will bet she is in the mild-moderate category. Good luck with your appeal!!
