Guest guest
Our e-mail at work was not working properly last week. So I don't know if my messages got through. I'll send them again, just delete if you have already received them. Sorry Today we had a staff lunch and I was sitting next to a beautiful, natural blond, tall and skinny colleague of mine. Very innocently she asked me if I had lost a lot of weight. I said yes. Then she said " you need to stop now, you look fine now " . I replied that I needed to lose a lot more weight before I would be down to normal. She said " no,no, don't lose more weight " . I was somewhat surprised to hear he say that. I mean I am still 228 lbs (5'10) and she is 123 lbs (5'8), so roughly I am still twice her weight (sigh) at almost the same height. I felt like punching her into her pretty little nose. But on the other hand she is so shy and innocent that I can hardly believe she tried to make fun of me. Grrrrrr.... Does anyone have a theory why she said what she said? Puzzled in London Barbara (Brioletta)
Guest guest
>Does anyone have a theory why she said what she said? > People are often threatened by other people losing weight. I myself am guilty of it. I know when friends of mine lose a lot of weight I am pleased for them, but at the same time jealous as hell, and wanting to put extra cream in their coffee. Just a nasty bit of human nature I suppose Steph. LASGB scheduled Oct 7.
Guest guest
< > Hi Barbara, Hi Bandsters, I think that I have a theory, Barbara. I know you, as we used to work together, and I remember that once, a colleague of us (Brigitte) and I were speaking about weight problems. She knew you much better than me, as I had just arrived in London, and she said that you were the perfect example of " voluptuous and " epanouie " (don't know the word in English) beauty " . I'm not sure of the translation, as we were speaking in French. You already were beautiful before, Barbara. So I can imagine that people find you even more beautiful now, with 55 lb less, and think that you don't need to go farther. I don't know who told you that, but I'm pretty sure that she was sincere, even though it was probably not what you wanted to hear. Lots of love, Marina
Guest guest
Marina, thanks for your kind words (wiping tears from my eyes).
