Guest guest
From Cheri --I think MOST people on psych meds really have thyroid and adrenal issues causing the mental issues. From FlowrGal -- " But my psychiatrist sees no relationship between the hypo and my anxiety/depression " Y'all, it's actually my shrink who is addressing the thyroid. She's had lots of folks need thyroid support, not psych meds. she's young and comes out of a DO background which probably makes her more open. She did check into the Dr. Domitossi Dude here in Tucson, and unfortunately, he writes well and brings good things to people's attention, but not wise to see him. (sorry, no one will give me details) Most shrinks probably need shrinks. I keep telling my mother's shrink NO to more meds (long story and not on topic for this list) I MAY have found a good one. She didn't totally freak when I told her I have weaned myself off all psych meds. Changed my DX from bi-polar to PTSD and made it a point to say that we need to check my adrenal function before doing anything with thyroid. Next appt is on Feb 5. She may still let me down, but I'll keep y'all posted in case there is a good psych doc here in Tucson. The endo on TopDoc site is taking no more patients and his wait list for new patients is full as well. Bottom line, PLEASE FIND THE $$$$ TO TEST yourselves before trying to self treat. We know ourselves, and Val and the Mods here spend lots of time helping. We don't want to make their jobs harder. It was a lot of money for me to come up with, the 141, plus I overnighted.... but am so thankful I did. kc in AZ
Guest guest
Cheri: What a terrible story. Did you ever get a diagnosis? What ever happened to the terrible endo? I forgot to mention that this endo in Phialdephia told me the TSH tells him everything he needs to know. I said what about my FT4 and he chuckled and said it varies so much, it is of no use. I know this contradicts a lot of the literature out there on the use of FT4 as a diagnostic. I should said something, but he was one of those drs one cannot argue with. He also told me that the reason I was having trouble tolerating the thyroid medicaition is that I may not be hypo after all, since my TSH used to diagnose me was not that high. He went on to say that if he gave thyroid hormone to people (in the health general population) they would have energy too and lose weight. I was just stunned. What a wacko, quack. > > My endo told me my hair loss and all my hypo symptoms were not from hypo but > because I was depressed. Yes, depression even causes pubic hair loss. First > class idiot.
