Guest guest
Holly, I am almost 5 years since surgery and radiation and am terrified of it coming back. Especially when I hear about it coming back on others. This is pretty recent for me. Before if I thot about it coming back, it was " oh well, I'm screwed " but now it is almost an obsession with me. I wonder if I am trying to make my cancer worse. Does that sound wierd?. It's almost like I am trying to validate it because it wasn't that bad. That's a sick thing. I am so very very fortunate that it wasn't worse. But the thot never seems to go away Sue & nne Svihlik wrote: Holly, I think its always in the back of our minds if the cancer is going to come back. Its been over 16 yrs for me and its gotten a lot easier. I will keep you in my prayers. I had a mastectomy in June of 2004. It had not spread, so I didn't need Chemo or Radiation. I felt like I got off easy and thought I handled the whole surgery/recovery thing pretty well considering I'm alone. (I left my husband of 20 years in 2002). I tried reconstuctive surgery, but my body rejected it. It's been over 2 years now and I still can't get through a day without thinking about it and being terrified it's coming back in some form or another. Am I normal?
