Guest guest
Last Fall I tested my oldest son, age 12, via saliva testing, and yes, he is hypoT and has adrenal fatigue. - Janet > Has anyone had their kids tested via saliva testing for adrenal > function? Guest guest
Good point about the needles! So do you recommend the basic panel from Canary, or do you need to add other hormones even with kids...? NOt even sure if my question makes sense since i've never been tested myself so am not totally clear on what labs are most important. Guest guest
Was he having symptoms? My daughter is highly active, but recently we found out she is celiac (me too), and I know based on my resolution of symptoms with HC that i probably had adrenal fatigue most of my life (my mom too I think), so I'm wondering if she may have been born with it. Symptom wise, the only thing I see is her high impatience level/low tolerance to stress/reaction to noise and light. did you treat your son with HC also? does he take hypoT meds? thanks, Liz > > > Has anyone had their kids tested via saliva testing for adrenal > > function? Guest guest
Hi Liz, I tested my 8 r old son. We used the diagnos tech saliva panel for him. Obviously their age has to be taken into consideration in terms of interpreting their sexual hormone levels, but I found it to be very helpful. It was very easy for him, he seemed to have an easier time filling the vails than I did!! lol.. I think he was just very happy not to have to get a shot, spitting into a tube was a walk in the park in his mind!! Hope this helps, sarah testing kids for adrenal fatigue > Has anyone had their kids tested via saliva testing for adrenal > function? Guest guest
I had him tested because in the Fall of 2006 he was officially diagnosed with ADHD, though looking back he'd had problems since he was about 3. Since diagnosing myself with hypoT, I kept coming across connections between adrenal fatigue, hypoT and ADHD. I was/am worried about him being on Concerta. He was put on Concerta because of the " H " part of ADHD - complete lack of impulse control. I have 4 other children and they would get hurt by his lack of control. It was never intentional, more like his brain lacked the " common sense " filter that the rest of us have. After a year on the Concerta he was getting very sluggish, and I got worried. I knew my pediatrician wouldn't listen to me (she didn't listen when I told her my oldest daughter's depression was serious - wrote it off as " teenage angst " , but that's another story.) So I had him do the saliva test. I self-treat my son (along with myself, hubby and oldest daughter.) I tried Isocort, but it didn't help. Now he's on HC, plus Armour. But he is still not at the point where I am comfortable taking him off the Concerta. I tested his B12 and ferritin a couple of months ago - they weren't awfully low, but a bit off, so I should treat those I think. Plus, I know I need to plot his temps, just haven't worked that into our daily routine yet. Hope that helps. - Janet > Was he having symptoms?
