Guest guest
My daughter has been in her band for 4 months now and even though we haven't seen the results we were hoping for, we do not regret banding her at all. The band hasn't bothered her one bit and so I don't see why we shouldn't have banded. We are not losing anything banding; however, if we hadn't, we might have always wondered what would have happened if we had banded and maybe even regret that we didn't. Yes, the band is a hassle sometimes, but the improvements that we have seen are definitely worth it. She is now almost 12 months old and her head has rounded out nicely. Her facial asymmetries however haven't improved as much as we were hoping for. Her ears have aligned somewhat, but I can still tell that they are 'off'. Even if the results in older babies are not as great as in younger ones, I think it is definetely worth a try. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Thanks to everyone for the responses. I think that we are going to go ahead and do it. We thought about it and thought about it and talked w/ friends who have banded their children and everyone has said " go for it " . We don't want to regret it later on and I doubt we would regret doing it. What are some top things that I need to know before he is banded? We go for the 3D on Tues. then he'll get his band on the 29th. Do they typically have problems adjusting to it? I think from what I've read her that sleeping could potentially be a problem at first? Anything you can share with me would be greatly appreciated!! Guest guest
Hi Dawn- Glad to hear you've made a decision. One way or the other, it's really the hardest part of the process. Sleeping could be an adjustment, although I personally (and thankfully) did not have that problem. Hopefully, it won't be a problem for you either. I think the two biggest things you have to be prepared for are possible red spots and sweating. Red spots are okay if they disappear within an hour's time. If not, they could become a problem and an adjustment may be necessary. I'm not sure where you're located, but regardless of the temperature/weather, you will want to dress Luke at least a season cooler than you normally would. My son rarely wears a jacket (we're in NC) and almost always has short sleeves on, if not shorts too. Usually there's a lot of sweating the first week or so and then it should balance out. Recently though, we've had some hot days so the sweating is back. You can just take off the helmet and wipe his head down every couple of hours until it gets better. Good luck!
