Hello, I didn't get an port for my chemo and I had only 4 rounds of

chemo, I was almost stage 1 and it didn't spread to any other part of

my body, bones or nothing, but my surgeon, told me that if i was his

wife he would suggest 4 rounds of chemo just to be on the safe side and

tamoxifen for 5 yrs. My veins are just now getting back to were they

should be. Betty

Jean (I think)

I do not have a port--I have completed 4 rounds of Chemo and have

not had any problems with my veins. I still have 4 rounds to go and

the Dr. and Nurses don't see any reason that they will be a problem

either.

I had 4 A/C's and a few other injections through the veins and had no

problem. I had pretty good veins but you also have to remember that

they can only use the arm on the side where lymph nodes have not been

taken. So that can limit things if you have further treatment needed

(via veins) after your chemo.

Best,

Ellen

I did not get a port and I am on heavy chemo. AC+T and have just had

my 5th. No problems. I have it in my arm (not my hand, that hurts

more and bruises) and switch arms. I can do that since I have not had

surgery yet.

Not even much bruising and veins still really good.

Everyone should have a port for chemotherapy that involves a caustic agent.

There is too much risk for infiltration and leakage at a site. Ask your dr for a

port. They are easily inserted and can easily be removed when needed. I think

ports are the greatest. The have been around for 20yrs; that says a lot as

medicine keeps changing but ports are still around. If you have any questions,

let me know. bashkin@...
