Guest guest
Hi, sossityb - There can be many reasons why you are not tolerating Armour. You myhave low ferritin, or need adrenal support. Read at www.stopthethyroidmadness.com especially adrenal-info and see if a myriad of things don't pop out at you. Need suggestions..cannot handle Armour anymore I've tried it for over about 2 weeks now and just can't do it anymore. I feel like absolute crap on this stuff! I jumped in with the full 1 grain dose that I was prescribed and that was a rough couple of days. I then learned on this site to back off, which I have done, but I still feel so horrible. I started with 1/4 of a grain and I guess that was bearable but not great. Started other things at the same time so I thought problems might have been from that but the more I read, the more I'm sure it's just the Armour. I'm now taking 1/4 in a.m. and 1/4 in afternoon and feel miserable. I'm foggy-headed, feel very spacey, tired, headachey and just plain icky. Should I try something else?? Is it possible and worthwhile to try and even smaller dose? I'm so looking forward to tomorrow when I don't take ANY! I need a good day! Guest guest
Thanks for your help. I started everything basically about the same time,..I'm thinking it's been about 2 weeks. Here is what I'm on right now: DIM (decrease estrogens) 4/day Adrenal Support supplement 3/day Adaptogen 3/day EFA oils 6/day Coral Calcium 3/day Armour Cymbalta (for about 2 years for anxiety) Labs: Cortisol DHEA 8 (3-10) AM 9 (13-24) Testosterone 19 (8-20) Noon 3 (5-10) Estrone >100 (30-58) PM 3 (3-8) Estradiol 20 (7-20) Midn. 2 (1-4) Estriol 58 (12-25) Progesterone 601 (65-500) I had been taking oral prog. 2 months prior so may have had some impact SIgA 5 (25-60) still not sure what this really means Intolerance to soy and milk I'm new to all of this so I haven't done anything else. I've only seen this doc twice and haven't been on the site too long. I am not temping or anything else. I was hoping to give this doc a good ol' try, stick w/ it all full force for a why and keep my fingers crossed that something gives. Fat chance? I REALLY do appreciate your help. Guest guest
Hmmm...labs looked nice and pretty when I typed them but posted they are very jumbled. Guest guest
Val, I think you suggested the hc to me when I first posted what this doc was going to put me on. So..the hc will lower the estrogen and increase cortisol? Any other suggestions you would have for me at this point? Should I just drop the armour for now or somehow try a 1/8 grain?? Guest guest
I posted my test results in another post in this thread. I don't have the ferritin testing though. I haven't taken Armour today and I feel back to my old self. So, I'm pretty darn sure it's the culprit. I'll continue w/ the other supplements through tomorrow morning, skip Armour tomorrow as well then I'll know for sure. If Armour is the culprit, I guess I'll try a very small dosage. > > Started other things at the same time so I > > thought problems might have been from that but the more I read, the > > more I'm sure it's just the Armour. > > > > > What else are you taking? > This is why its recommended to never try too many different things at > once. Guest guest
You suggested I add hc. That's what I was asking about. Any articles about it's effectiveness, etc.. I've seen a ton about it on here but haven't read any data on it. Yeah, I plan to surge through old posts tonight to try to get a grip on things but I tell ya,...that task is pretty daunting. I'm sure you recall when you were new to all of this. The idea of fumbling through a bunch of posts trying to figure out where the heck to start feels quite overwhelming. But,...here I go! Guest guest
I found the search to be helpful even though I did ask a lot of questions over again due to brain fog. Yes, it all can be overwhelming. The Armour thing isn't my area of expertise yet as I am still focused on adrenals. I just recall vague memory of what and others have said which is why the file search is one of the quickest ways to narrow it down by keyword so you don't have to troll through so many posts. They know more about that as people who have experienced it, than I do. Cheri -----Original Message----- You suggested I add hc. That's what I was asking about. Guest guest
Spending hours and hours a day isn't overwhelming?? You must have more umph in ya, than I! However, I have been digging around in the files tonight and it has helped me a ton. So, I get that it can be aggrivating to have a clueless gal like me asking a bunch of very basic questions but I was truly at a loss. I finally found a good place to start. It's all great info. Guest guest
I've spent an hour or so tonight on StoptheThyroidMaddness tonight. What great info! While it's all still very scary to me and overwhelming, I'm feeling a little better already. At least I have some idea of a plan now. I'm seeing the naturopath on Mon. and want to talk to her about this. See how much she really knows. I need to decide if she is going to really help me or just get in my way, you know? I have to say,...it freaked me out to see the info on Stage 5. That seems to be where I'm at right now. Yikes!!
Guest guest
But that is what this list is for! We all had to start someplace and when the brain fog is bad, sometimes it is easier to ask questions. Plus it just feels more personal and like you are really connecting with someone else who will actually understand how you feel. :-) When people direct you to things it is because some of that stuff is already typed out and organized in an easy to comprehend format. We are still suffereing from brain fog too, so sometimes it can be hard for us to communicate specifically in a coherent fashion. At least it is for me at times. :-)I'm glad it is finally starting to make sense for you. Cherie A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright > > Spending hours and hours a day isn't overwhelming?? Guest guest
Yes, if you have super low cortisol, the addition of HC will make all the difference in tolerating ANY thyroid med as they can all be hard on the adrenals without support. Holding off on the Armour until your adrenals are better supported sounds very sensible. I too was off Armour for several weeks (taking only HC) before I started it again. Move at your own pace though, whatever works for you. I'm only taking 45 mg. (15 mg. 3x a day) but I'm assuming that when I build up to a grain or more the most I would be taking at one time would be one grain, 3x a day. I've read somewhere that most people optimize around 3 grains. Good luck, Di > > Thanks for your response. When I went to 1/4 grain, it was > tolerable...I guess...but I still did not feel well. Guest guest
Thank you, Cherie for that kind comment - I am utterly discouraged by my inability to focus (and I used to be intelligent!). If a prerequisite to this site was hours of reading technical files, I couldn't be here. thanks again. > > But that is what this list is for!
