Guest guest
I just wanted to let you know I am in Blue Springs Missouri. Are the orthos at KU med center? My daughter wore a STARband through Hanger from Oct. 2002 to Jan 2003. I dont know what percentage correction we got but I am pleased with the results. My daughter was high moderate to severe plagio/brachy. Angie Results percentage? Hello, Must say that I have been an observer to this site for several weeks and have felt like I got such great information from all. This site is such a blessing! We just saw the neurosurgeon after the referral from the ped. The neurosurgeon said my daughter's (6 mo) plagio was considered a mild case and that if we did nothing, the improvement in the shape of her head would improve 5%. If we went with helmet therapy, that it would be 30-40% improvement. My husband and I both thought this percentage was disappointing. Is that the standard improvement scale most have been given? I understand her head shape wouldn't be perfect, but I was hoping for 70-80% instead! Could it be perhaps because he considered her case mild? Everyone that looks at her has said, she doesn't like to be on her tummy, does she? So it's pretty obvious that she's got plagio (but it's exaggerated by the fact that she has no hair! If anyone has heard about different results and percentages, I would be interested. Our appointment with Hanger is on Friday. Thanks!Maggie (Mom of 6 mo)Kansas City
Guest guest
No, the ortho is Dr. Coyler at St Luke's. My ped also recommended Children's Mercy, but I could not get in there for over 3 months. Coyler could see me quickly, since time is of the essence, I took that appointment. I haven't been told her current mm reading, but maybe that would make a difference in percentage results. > > I just wanted to let you know I am in Blue Springs Missouri. Guest guest
Hi my son started wearing the STARband about 2 1/2 months ago. We can see a BIG difference. We also saw Dr. Coyler who referred us to Hanger. (tried Children's Mercy but was told they no longer do this) I think you will be very pleased with the results. > > > > I just wanted to let you know I am in Blue Springs Missouri. Guest guest
Did you have good feedback from Hanger as well? Were they helpful? > > > > > > I just wanted to let you know I am in Blue Springs Missouri. Are > the orthos at KU med > > center? Guest guest
They have been great......I am not sure what office you will be going to but if you go to the office located right by St Luke's they are wonderful to deal with. If you have any concerns or feel like you need to come back earlier than your next appt they get you in asap. I am in an appeal process with my insurance company and they have been very helpful with getting me information and stuff that I ask them for. Guest guest
Hi! My child was banded by hanger for plagiocephaly at UMKC w ette. She is nice, but we felt that in the end, she was pushing us to agree to graduation. In retrospect we are happy with result (9mm to 4 mm), but still feel that we should have been more aggressive and forthright about continuing the treatmnt. Initially our child zero facial assymetry. After about 2-3 months of helmet, one side was pusing against the cheek bone, which we pointed out to her. She dismissed it as " usual " for more than 2 visits, but then we had to insist on loosening the helmet on that side. This has resulted in slight indentation of the cheek bone. So remebner techs are good, but your child is the " one " for you, but " one of many " for them. But don't get me wrong, we are happy with results. Best of luck with treatment. > > > > > > I just wanted to let you know I am in Blue Springs Missouri. Are > the orthos at KU med > > center?
