Guest guest
my 5 month old daughter was diagnosed with toricollis and plagiocephaly 2 months ago. she just started OT this week. dr. wants to wait to see how the therapy goes before deciding on whether she needs a band. my daughter already has facial asymmetry and i'm concerned that by the time the dr. decides on the the band and i get an appointment it will be 2 months from now. should i push to get the band or wait to see she thinks after the therapy? will 7 months be too late? will the facial assymetry be corrected? Guest guest
Hi ~ If it were me I'd get the ball rolling and have your Dr. write the orders for a band. Like you said this stuff can take time and you really want to have your child banded sooner than later. You are already noticing things about your child that are a concern, so I wouldn't wait for a Dr. to make the decicion for you. Besides what will it hurt to make the band apt. and let them tell you if they think they can help you or not. Are you doing PT also for the Tort.? We did OT and PT. Good Luck with your decision. It won't be too late if you wait a couple of months, but I'd start doing my homework with insurance to find out what if any bands they cover! Beth~MO Mom to Owen 17mo. RT Tort. Guest guest
Hi.. I would push to get the prescription from your doctor and make that appt. It can take 4 weeks or more to get in to see someone. This way you'll get a second opinion on your daughter's head. Not just your peds but a specialist in head deformity. It's your decision..not your doctor's. Good luck! > > my 5 month old daughter was diagnosed with toricollis and > plagiocephaly 2 months ago. she just started OT this week. dr. wants > to wait to see how the therapy goes before deciding on whether she > needs a band. my daughter already has facial asymmetry and i'm > concerned that by the time the dr. decides on the the band and i get > an appointment it will be 2 months from now. should i push to get the > band or wait to see she thinks after the therapy? will 7 months be too > late? will the facial assymetry be corrected? >
