Guest guest
Hi I think you are doing really well. I had my lapband surgery 5 days ago and am starting to make the readjustments necessary, albeit very slowly. Like you, I know that my eating has a very large emotional part. My surgeon, who realises that this is the case for most (if not all) compulsive eaters, insists that his patients have psychiatric support after surgery from someone specialising in eating disorders. I am really hoping that the combination of the band and the emotional support will help me a great deal. On my psychiatric assessment I was told that there is often a 'difficult/sticking' point after a large amount of weight has been lost. It is the time when the person is really beginning to feel much thinner and this can bring up much emotional 'baggage'. I am sure that you will come through this...maybe therapy at this time could help you too? Take care of yourself and Happy Thanksgiving!
