Guest guest
Wondering if anyone has heard of this? And had any experience with it? I came across it doing a search about herx reactions. Wouldn't this help us with thyroid and adrenal problems? It sounds like a scary process though.
Guest guest
, Yes, I've been looking at this with a peculiar point of view because I can see how their approach would change what the body does with oxalates. Vitamin D enhances absorption of oxalate by encouraging more calcium to be absorbed in the gut and less to stay in the gut to bind oxalate. The result is that vitamin D supplementation can cause more oxalate to get to tissues where they can cause damage. The angiotensin II receptor blocker also would change the trafficking of oxalate. They talk about getting changes even before the antibiotic is taken, and some of the symptoms they talk about is similar to the symptoms we see when people are on a low oxalate diet and their bodies start to release oxalate. It looks like for the conversion of cholecalciferol to calcitriol to take place peripherally, it requires the action of macrophages, which though involves with the type of bacteria they talk about, it doesn't look like this conversion would be dependent on the bacteria being there, but just some other reason for the macrophage to be activated. Sometimes it takes looking at the same set of data with new eyes to get a difference in the model that is used to explain what changes. We are in a dilemma in the autism community about vitamin D because it seems pretty typical in situations where cholecalciferol levels is low for calcitriol (the activated D) to be high. What we don't know is if this is occurring, is it better to reduce exposure to vitamin D as the Marshall Protocol suggests, or to increase it. This is very relevant to my daughter's situation, I think. The doctor was supposed to fax me her vitamin D results, but something happened and I don't see it! She was on it a long time, maybe a year or two so gave it a good go. I seem to recall it made her feel ill, but could be misremembering that. sol
