Times for dividing up doses of cytomel? Cherie

I haven't been retested since I was switched to Cytomel from

SRT3/Synthroid because my RT3 was hight.

I was on the SRT3/synthroid combo for several years, however, my doc

did not re-check my levels after starting me on treatment. I saw a doc

for another issue, she checked my levels and I was surprised to find

that my T3 was still very low. At this point, on 20mcg of SRT3 and 120

mcg of Synthroid here were my results:

Free T4 .99 ng/dL (.61-1.76)

TSH .099 uIU/mL (.350-5.5)

Free T3 2.2 LOW pg/mL (2.3-4.2)

SO, at this point I requested to my rxing doc that I up my T3. He

upped me to 30 mcg SRT3 and kept my synthroid the same. Then I started

getting hyper symptoms (fast heart rate, sweating). These were my lab

results at that point:

Free T4 2.0 ng/mL (.8-1.8)

TSH .01 mIU/L (.4-2.70)

Free T3 392 pg/dL (230-420)

Reverse T3 52 ng/dL (11-32)

This brings me to now. I've been on 15 mcg/day of cytomel. 2/3 of it

on rising and the remaining 1/3 in the afternoon. I keep trying to add

another 5 mcg and can't tolerate it. So I am interested to learn more

about the timing/spacing of it.

I recently moved from MD to NC and have an appt. with a new doc in a

month who I am HOPING will help me sort out my thyroid issues. I

noticed she is listed in this groups docs, so hopefully she will be

good. In the meantime, I'm not sure what to do. I wish I had learned

more about this a long time ago. I've had lots of health issues and

always done tons of my own research and been very proactive. But with

my thyroid, I guess I really underestimated the importance of it AND

trusted my doc. So not til recently did I really understand how

important it is and that it could be a major part of my pain issues.

Thanks for your help and suggestions.
