" AACE Supports FDA in Concerns Regarding Marketing, Use of So-called

Bio-identical Hormones "

Suprise surprise.. From the article: " AACE recommends that patients

taking these products consult their physicians to discuss this issue.

If further information is required, expert endocrinologists may be

found here: www.aace.com/... "

Also from the article: " The FDA expresses particular concern about

one of the common components of BHT, estriol. “No drug product

containing estriol has been approved by FDA and the safety and

effectiveness of estriol is unknown.”

Probably true. But isn't estriol MADE by the human body, and

therefore MUST be safe (at approriate dose)? Is the FDA nuts? They

could use the same argument to say they are banning banannas because

they've never been tested and their safety is unkown.. (And they

apparently did/are doing something similar regarding links to

research on compounds in cherries that may have medical effects, that

were simply POSTED by some cherry-growers organization. No " medical

claims " were made, just links to the articles (and title titles I

suppose, which kind of make the claims right there). Clear violation

of free speech infrigement in my book.

What is the situation like in countries that have adopted the " codex

alimentarius " (sp) regarding claims about vitamins, and restricting

manufactuers from making, say high-dose Vitamen D (IIRC)? The US

hasn't adopted it yet AFAIK, but the pharma lobby is trying their

hardest..

We've had a person say they would take out 10 floors of the UN,

had a person who said they would shut down the department of

education.. When will we have someone saying we should scrap the FDA

and start over from scratch with " protecting consumers " (from snake-

oil or poison salespeople, as I believe the orginal Food, Drug,

Cosmetic Act was intended to do), instead of simply buttressing the

interests of pharma companies with the force of law?
