Guest guest
Here's an interesting blog entry by Dr. Dach that's a point- by-point rebuttal of the FDA's " warning " .. Just astonishing the way he puts it - you'd think the FDA was staffed by a bunch of monkeys.. (actually, perhaps it is - trained moneys that is - trained by the drug industry of course!) http://jeffreydach.com/2008/01/11/fda-declares-war-on-bioidentical- hormones-by-jeffrey-dach-md.aspx > The FDA has been bought out by Pharmaceutical companies for at least 3 > decades. Closer to 6. *6*..?? Jeez, things are worse than I thought. One thing I'm wondering, more to the point of thyroidism - in the 80s when the " Synthroid takeover began " , why wasn't there a huge consumer backlash. If the T4-only meds don't work for most people now, didn't people notice back then? Or is it that Abbott (or whoever made it back then) just bought off the AACE, and suddendly no- one could find a doctor who would perscribe Armour anymore, or their doctor's said " this is better " and of course they believe the patients believe them.. ( " Why ever trust what your own body says? The Endo's GOTTA know better. He has a medical degree after all.. " Which means he knows probably one ten-thousandth of what goes on in the human body, and is probably wrong about half of that..) Guest guest
Hi Jim, I must say that no, I didn't " notice " back then - it was 1965, we didn't question our doctors and I was so busy dealing with the effects of being thrown into post surgical hypoparathyroidism that I *wished* I only had to take one lil thyroid pill a day. I lived a full, active life and until years later wouldn't have said I felt awfwl. Even then, I didn't suffer some of the many things that come with having rare illness and aging. I repeatedly asked for Armour after I went into nursing in the 80s and discovered it, and NO doc would Rx it. Yes, they had been bought out by big pharma. Even up until I started Armour last June, I didn't feel THAT unwell, I didn't know I could feel LOTS better until I actually changed to Armour. That said, I had things like PCOS and 40 years of hypoglycemia that are probably attributable to suboptimal thyroid replacement and adrenal fatigue, but no one knew what to do or how to treat back then. I'm so thankful for these boards. >>> One thing I'm wondering, more to the point of thyroidism - in the 80s when the " Synthroid takeover began " , why wasn't there a huge consumer backlash.
