Guest guest
Hi Rita, I was glad to hear that you are using the same surgeon, but I can't believe how long you've had to wait. What did you have to do after the first positive apnea test, ie. how long did you have to use (cpap) machine?... Also, if you do have an upper GI,(endoscopy), it's to rule out GERD-reflux, and to look for any pathology that's not supposed to be there so there's no surprises when they open you up. Have you seen Gertrude in the office? She's a stickler for safety, checking everything before surgery. She had the surgery herself (RNY) and is very good to talk to. By the way, I wasn't supposed to be awake during this. The MD wasn't very good, this was done in office, without a nurse, and I didn't receive enough demerol (pain), or versid (amnesiac). I was vomitting phlegm the entire time (still had a gag reflex, not good). If you decide to have this done, make sure it's in a hospital!!! This MD was able to scedule me really fast (i wonder why?!), I made a bad choice. About your next sleep study, I was able to get an appointment within 2 weeks. I said I needed this test before I could have surgery. I got a tentative date for May, then they called me back and offered me March 30, (someone had cancelled). I know you live far away, but it might be worth it to try this place: Sleep Disorder center Great Neck, NY (877)sleepmd (516)465-8271 fax(516)465-8299 beth . bmi 46 . dr. macura . open ds
