Tort regression with helmet?

Hello,

My 6.5 mo old daughter has tort and has been working with a PT for

about 3 months now. She has full range of motion and the 'tilt' from

the tort is completely gone. She just got her helmet last week and

over the weekend, twice when I went to get her from her naps, she was

tilting significantly the " wrong " way, which I haven't seen in ages.

Has anyone had issues where the tort gets worse with the helmet?

We're planning to continue with the PT and the stretches, and

hopefully she's just getting used to the helmet, but I'd be interested

to know if anyone has any advice to avoid regression.

Thanks!

Hi! My 8 month old dtr. has been in her helmet for 2 months and has R. Tort. and we saw regression as well. When we first put her in the helmet she started leaning to the opposite side. It did get better, however, off and on we have watched her lean to either side. I have read that Tort. can come and go for 12- 18 months. We have been in PT since she was 10 weeks. She is not as tight, however, we do still see the tilt off and on. Right now she is actually tilting to the right side again. I would love for someone to tell me what might be causing this. I have read that it can be from reaching different milestones or either teething. I would recommend to just keep up with the exercises and stretching. On a positive note we have seen huge results from the helmet already in just 2 months. Hope to be out in the next 3-4 months! marlabmast <marlabmast@...> wrote: Hello,My 6.5 mo old daughter has tort and has been working with a PT for about 3 months now. My dd didn't have tort, but I've been in the group long enough to know

that for some babies tort is a recurring problem. Usually at

milestones like sitting, crawling, walking etc it can come back even

if it has been gone a while. It is something to keep an eye on. It

makes sense that the extra weight of the band might cause it to come too.

Hopefully more tort moms will reply too.

My daughter has tort too and we've seen a little bit of regression

with the tilt since we got our helmet a few weeks ago. I had her at

PT yesterday and the PT said sometimes they tilt a little more when

they get the helmet because of the added weight they're not used

to. I was told to keep up with the stretches and she should get

used to the extra weight from the helmet.
