Trying to reason out why I feel like this

Temps are still in the dirt today and I'm in a half panic attack and

trying to reason my way through it. I took prednisolone for the first

time last night and I'm using cream today instead of pills so there's

a possible cause. I'm using old Armour that might not be working so

there's a cause. With re: to the Armour, if it's too old and I'm not

getting enough thyroid hormone from it, I should just be feeling even

more hypo than usual - more tired, achy, headache, etc. It shouldn't

be causing this panicky feeling though and I don't have the headache

and my energy is OK. If I'm not getting enough cortisol from the

cream I should be feeling dizzy, sweaty, nauseous, shaky, BP should be

low and should fall when I stand. I've checked BPs twice today and

they rise when standing - systolic just now went from 119 to 142 when

I stood up. Earlier today it was a lot closer to a 10 point rise. I

haven't felt the other low cortisol symptoms that I would expect to

feel either. I haven't had an appetite today, which is strange, but I

ate a good sized brekfast, had a protein bar, and made myself eat

lunch just now.

I'm also retaining water in my hands more than normal which I think

happens to me more when I'm taking more HC - I was stress-dosing some

yesterday and felt it.

Given the low temps and panic, I'm almost thinking that I'm getting

more cortisol from the cream than I know and that I'm having a little

thyroid dump except that I don't have the bad headache and my BP and

HR aren't out of control like they were last time I used too much

cream and definitely had a thyroid dump.

Given all of this, does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

It sounds to my more like low thyroid i.e. hypo than adrenal issue overall.

Hi ,

It sounds like you are having too much armour. If you have doubled your dose

this would be the case & the pills were probably still in date anyway.

Hi Val, it did feel like too much Armour for too little cortisol but I

was on the same dose of Armour - just using older 1 grain pills and

cutting them in half to take my 1/2 grain dose. The funny thing is

that I was on the same dose of HC too, but using cream instead of

pills and that I had substituted that prednisolone liquid the night

before for the first time. Changing too many things at once has been

my downfall so many times and I repeated the mistake. Looking back at

yesterday, I think that what I was feeling was a result of low

cortisol so I wasn't getting enough from the cream I guess which is a

bummer b/c I really want to switch to cream for a while to give my gut

a break but now, like Cherie, I have to figure out how much more cream

I need to use and I can't mess around with that right now while I try

to figure out how to use this prednisolone. I did end up calling my

doc's office to get the on-call doc to call me in a script for some

fresh Armour so that I could put that to bed as a possible cause.
