Guest guest
in three of my thyroid books...including Dr. Starrs...it says..specifically...that woman who are pre-menopausal..their temps are fluctuating so therefore temps should be taken on the 2nd and 4th day of the period....so why are we trying to have perfect temps all month....l always wondered about that...it doesnt say take it all month and then those 2 days...it simply says take it on those 2 days...and honestly..those are the only 2 days of the month that my temp is 98.2 and up....all month lm 97.2 and 97.4 and there is no way lm hypo....my husband is completely healthy...no thyroid problems and l check his occasionally in the am...he is always no higher than 97.4....for as long as l have known him he has always been envyingly toasty...he has tons of energy and never has a temp of 97.8 in the am....so why so much striving for those perfect temps in pre not perimenopausal woman...read those books and get back to me...cause l think we are striving for something that isnt gonna be so....now if you have reached menopause it says take your temp any day...so there is a difference...this was broda barnes recommendation...even my own doc told me to take it any day...but lm thinking this is wrong...if the hormones are all over the place then the temps will be too and if we are stiving for that sweet spot during the month we are probably striving for a hyper condition....Val V. Once you have tracked basal temps for several months you will see YOUR individual pattern especially in relation to the days when it shoudl be normal namely the days 2-4 of your cycle. As I do nto have cycles and haven't had for 27 years, I am NOT up on the temp changes during menstrula cycels except they dhsould repeat month after month to the same patterns and if they do not, ther is aproblem, usually in thyroid. Sometimes in cortisol. The day to day cahnges or lookign for stabikity from one day to the next are NOT affected by cycles excepot the ONE day you ovulate and possibly the ONE day oyu start your period. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/

In my experience, a woman's basal AND daily average vary throughout the month. My basal around ovulation goes down to 97.2, but a couple of weeks later, it's as high as 98.4 Likewise, daily average around ovulation is as low as 97.8, but a few weeks later before my period starts, my daily average is almost 98.9. So if you focused ONLY on temps, you'd say that I was hypo, and then hyper within the same month and the same dose of Armour! Which is why you should use other indicators in CONJUNCTION with the temps. If a woman's daily average within a full cycle never gets to 98.6 or higher, she's hypo, or her T3 is not getting utilized because of low cortisol. BP in someone with normal adrenals should always rise on standing, not fall. That would not vary throughout the month. Your hands and feet should not be cold only at certain times of the month; they shouldn't be cold at all! Your mid-back area where the adrenals are shouldn't hurt, that means you need more HC. And finally, get periodic bloodwork done to see where your TSH, FT3, and FT4 are. Just my two cents. Barb

The DQAY TO DAY averages shoudl still nto fluctuate THAT much except on ovulation or periods starting a these are major hormone changing days. But i never had a normal period in my life, but I have certainly seen menstruating women that were able to use temps to judge hypo and adrenal status. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
