Wolf's Law: Unexpected Bone Growth with Helmet?

My daughter has been in a Starband for 3 weeks. At week 2 she had a

pressure sore and we went in for an adjustment. The pressure sore

went away. This week I noticed what looks and feels like a bony bump,

about the size of a nickel, where the sore was. There is also a

smaller one on her forehead. Both bumps are at places where her head

contacts the band.

I took her back to the orthotist and he mentioned a phenomenon called

Wolf's Law: where bone growth increases when met with resistance. He

wouldn't definitively say this is what is happening. He wants to get

a second opinion from our cranio/facial doc that it is in fact bone.

In the mean time he adjusted her band so that there is more room

around the bumps.

Has anyone else had an experience like this?

- I have not heard of this happening before - In fact I've never heard of wolfs law. I searched thru our old messages and didn't find the term. I know some babies have experiences swelling - but if it is actual bone that is different.

Call the ped and talk to them about it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf's_law I posted a link for a definition of Wolf's law. I read thru it however and it sounds like something that happens over a long period of time and not just 3 weeks. I would keep an eye on this and definitely also ask her pediatrician about it.
