BCBS of IL

I have BCBS of IL and my daughter is being casted tomorrow for a DOC

band. We have private insurance since my husband is self employed, so

we are not sure that we will even report to the insurance because they

can raise our rates or cancel us whenever they want.

Also, we have a high deductible of 1750. So their prearranged rate with

CT is 2000. We would pay that first 1750. The balance left would be

$250. Then they cover at 80%, which is $200. So we would pay $1800, and

they would pay $200. Otherwise we can just choose to pay the full $3000.

We really dont know what to do but we have to decide before tomorrow's

casting. After looking in the database and seeing that no one has

gotten coverage approved from BCBS of IL, Im thinking it's not even

worth it to report it to them and risk getting our plan canceled, when

they probably wont even cover it anyway!

Anyone else in IL have BCBS and want to give me any advice? BTW our

plan is called Blue Choice Select. It's like a PPO but its officially

called a POS. Which stands for point of service but I think its very

appropriate that such a bad insurance plan has the initials that stand

for something else. :)

Shoshana,

We got pre-approved for coverage through BCBS of IL Laborers Union for . But I think they differ a bit since all claims go thru the union first. Plus its a full PPO, not the POS, so I would think that would make a difference as well.

We will decide next week if we are banding or not...but good luck to you!

We got approved with BCBS of IL. It was a pain and I had to call

practically everyday to make sure it got done, but it finally went

through. We have PPO and we don't have to pay anything for the band.

They " rejected " us twice, once saying they didn't have the paperwork

they needed and again due to " measurements " which actually DID fit

their requirements, so I pushed the rep to send it to the review

board again and then they approved it.
