Guest guest
Becasue I honestly care about this group... I'm risking an OT post which I have clearly identified. This is a cut/paste of a second post I've gotten from group mods I respect regrarding a new service called " grouply " Post follows. This new Yahoo group thing has caused quite a stir. I've see quite a few messages about it. kc in AZ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ No Grouply memberships will be admitted to the group...sorry...At this point we don't have any that I'm aware of but if I find them they will be removed. Here is some info Jill sent that might help anyone. There seems to be some concern about a new service called Grouply. After doing some research, I believe that EVERYONE should be concerned. If you signed up for this service, do you realize that you are giving EVERYONE on Grouply access to our groups and files without the List Owner's knowledge and approval?? There are also discussions about how Grouply stores Yahoo message archives which IS A VIOLATION OF YAHOO's TERMS OF SERVICE. You are giving Grouply your Yahoo ID and password and they are going in and changing your email address on all groups AND sending out mass emails to others, making YOU - the Grouply user, a spammer without YOUR knowledge. I personally, would not take the word of a 3rd party entity that no one really knows anything about, and give them my ID and password. It's no different than a phishing scam! As someone else said on another group, we already have too much of our personal information out on the web. Why make it easier for someone to ACCESS & USE that info? So...after much research, thought and consideration, I will not allow anyone on this group to use the @grouply.com_ (http://grouply.com/) email address. I will give you 48 hours to change your email addresses, after which, members using Grouply will be removed. HOW TO CHANGE YOUR EMAIL SETTINGS: Click the link that says EDIT MEMBERSHIP which is located just above the colored banner that says the group's name. Once you are at the Edit Membership Page, find the heading Email Address. Here you will choose the email address you would like to use. If your email address of choice is not listed in the drop down menu, click the link that says Add New Email Address and follow the instructions from there. Yahoo will have to send a confirmation before the change can take effect. Log back in to the group after confirming new email address. Go through the steps again and your new email address should now be in the drop down box. Click Save Changes. If you belong to several groups, like most of us do, then the easiest way to change your email address preferences is to: Log in (if you're not already) to: http://groups.yahoo.com/ mygroups. Click the link on the right side that says EMAIL PREFERENCES. The page that comes up will show what email addresses you have listed and will have links to either ADD or REMOVE email addresses. Click either one to either add a new email address or remove one. YOU SHOULD DELETE THE GROUPLY ADDRESS IF YOU HAVE ONE. If adding a new email address, Yahoo will need to send you a confirmation email to verify your email addy is valid. After you have completed the confirmation go back to http://groups. yahoo.com/ mygroups. Click the Tab that says EDIT MY GROUPS. Here you will be able to change your email address to ALL of your groups or those of your choosing. You can also change the way your emails are delivered for all your groups such as Individual Emails, Daily Digest, Special Notice, etc. Other options available on the Edit My Groups page is Leave Group, and Yahoo Profiles. If you scroll to the bottom, you will see there are options to Set all of the above with one click. Save Changes. You do not need to unsubscribe and then re-subscribe to any of your groups to change your email address. If you are a Grouply member, you will have to write to them directly to close your account. For your protection, you should IMMEDIATELY CHANGE YOUR YAHOO PASSWORD & YAHOO GROUP EMAIL SETTINGS!!
