Jung, when I went to the bigger AM dose and moved the bed-time dose

back to 8PM I crashed in the middle of the night hard. It took two

days for it to happen, but it did and it didn't work out for me. I

think that others might say that 20 is a big AM dose that is likely to

over-suppress your ACTH later, but if it works for you... We're all

different in how we react to this stuff, there is nothing truer than that.

Well, it took 4 days to happen to me... I crashed last night after

trying this schedule since Monday. I feel horrible today.

Are you planning on continuing with the Pred?

P.S. How much is it?

Sorry to hear that, but I was afraid that it might happen. I'm

staying with the pred for now even though it has come with all of it's

own tricks and problems - who would have thought that I have to take a

drug before 7PM to get it to affect me when I need it to 5-8 hours

later or that it would continue to affect me for up to 15 hours later?

This stuff (treating with steroids and trying to find a rhythm) is crazy.

Last night I took 1.25ml of Pediapred (methyl-prednisolone). 1ml is

equal to 1mg which is equal to 4mg of HC so, since I was taking 5mg of

HC at bed-time, my equivalent dose of pred is 1.25ml. I think that

it's too strong and so does my doc so I'm going to cut it back to 1ml,

but I might stay with the 1.25ml for tonight to see if I can repeat

last night's decent sleep performance and tomorrow is Sat. so it

doesn't matter as much if I can't think straight until noon.

Now I need to figure out my HC dose b/c I should be cutting it back by

4-5mg to account for the addition of the pred (assuming that I was on

enough HC in the first place). By taking it AND the 2.5mg of cream at

bed-time I'll be increasing my daily dose by 5mg if I don't reduce the

other doses somewhere. I think that I'll reduce my 6:30PM dose of HC

from 7.5mg to 5mg to account for the 2.5mg at bed-time. I'm not sure

where to find the other 2.5mg and I could use some help from the wise

ones on the board with that.

My current dosing schedule is 12.5mg at 8AM, 10mg at 11:30, 7.5mg at

3/3:30, 7.5mg at 6/6:30 and 2.5mg of cream at bed PLUS the 1.25ml of

pred for a total dose of 45mg. Should I just take 5 and 5 for my 3PM

and 6PM doses? I feel like I need the bigger doses earlier in the day

because I'm so wiped out and I start to get dizzy in between when the

next dose is due (around 3 hours).

Thanks,

P.S. I forget how much it was - seems like a big bottle was like a $28

co-pay and I have good insurance.

since prednisolone is long acting steroid and you are taking it night , i would

cut back 1.25 mg from each dose.if that is not convenient i would try

10-7.5-7.5-2.5.

my thoughts..

best wishes.

Tailor your dosing schedule to how you feel. If you need 3 hour

spacing in the morning, do that. If you can get away with 4 hour

spacing later in the day, then do that too.

12.5 - 8 a.m.

10 - 11 a.m.

7.5 - 2 p.m.

2.5 - 6 p.m. AND 1 ml pred - 6 p.m.

2.5 - bedtime
