The helmet can be tricky to get on and off at first, until you get

used to it. It's important that the orthotist show you the correct way

to put it on and take it off and that you practice at least once in

the office the day of the fitting. The plastic is very hard and you

really have to stretch the opening to get it on. I've heard of a lot

of parents who put it on when the baby is stationary in their high

chair or exercauser, or sit them up between their legs. My son was

older and for whatever reason, would just stand still for me. Last

week at our adjustment, the therapist asked him if he could borrow his

hat and my son walked right up to him and kind of tipped his head to

him, so he could take it off. Now he actually goes over to the table

where his band is drying, gets it, and brings it over to one of us to

put it on him well before the hour is up. They adjust really well. I

think it is more stressful for the parent than the child, but after a

few times on and off, it becomes second nature.

Helemet is VERY easy to get on and off - just make sure you practice alot at the drs office before you go home - that way you will feel more comfy when you are alone.
